He is currently serving the Maharastra state as the Deputy Chief Minister, along with Devendra Fadnavis. He also serves Maharastra as the Minister of Finance and Planning. He also served as the opposition leader in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 2022 to 2023. In I991, he was a Member of Parliament from theBaramati Lok Sabha constituency ,and he has been serving the Baramati Assembly constituency as a Member of the Legislative Assembly(MLA) since 1991.

Early Life

In the Ahmednagar district of Deolali Pravara, Ajit Pawar was born on July 22, 1959. His father's name was Anantrao Pawar. Hismother's name is not known.He is the grandson ofGovindrao Pawar and nephew of very famous politician Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar is the president of the Nationalist Congress Party and served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra four times .He finished his tenth-grade education at theMaharashtra Education Society High School in Baramati. After finishing his 10^th class, he joined college, but he could not complete his college and left the college before completing the degree.

Starting Career

Ajit Pawar had to take care of his family since childhood, and due to this, he had to face many social issues. Because of this, he learned what social issues should be completely finished from our society. He understands the social issues that farmers face in their day-to-day lives, and these things sowed the seeds of empathy in Pawar for their cause. Due to all these things, he decided to enter into politics. In 1982, he started his political career, became Pune's cooperative sugar factory board member, and served his position honestly.

Political Career

After serving as a board member for a cooperative sugar factory in Pune, in 1991, he was chosen to lead the Pune District Central Cooperative Bank as chairman, and he held this position for the following sixteen years. Additionally, he held the position of Trustee for Pune Zilla Vikas Pratishthan and Vidya Pratishthan. He got big opportunity in 1991, which would change his upcoming career as a politician. Ajit Pawar got a chance to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency,and he also won this election and became aMember of Parliament (MP) from the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency.This was a big win for Ajit Pawar, and after this win, he became very popular throughout Maharashtra.

After serving some time as MP from Baramati, for some reason, he resigned from his position for his uncle Sharad Pawar. After resigning from his position as MP in the same year, he got a chance to contest the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the same constituency, i.e.,Baramati Assembly ,and this time, he also won the election and became the new Member of the Legislative Assembly from Baramati.

Baramati's seat became Ajit Pawar's stronghold, and he became MLA from this seat six times after winning the first time in 1991. He won the MLA election from Baramati in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019. In Sudhakarrao Naik's government in the year 1991, he became the Agriculture and Power Minister of Maharashtra state and held this post till 1992.

In the year 1992, he got a chance to serve the Maharastra again in the position of Minister of Soil Conservation, Power and Planning under Sharad Pawar's government, and he served his position till 1993. After winning the 1999 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Baramati constituency, he was appointed as Cabinet Minister in 1999, overseeing the Irrigation Department as part of the INC-NCP coalition administration. He served in this position till 2003 under the Vilasrao Deshmukh'sgovernment.

In 2003, as a member of Sushilkumar Shinde's cabinet, he also worked as the minister for the Rural Development Department until 2004. In 2004, he became The Water Resources Minister under Deshmukh's and Ashok Chavan's cabinets following the INC-NCP coalition's victory in the 2004 Assembly elections. He remained in this post till 2009 and performed his work well. In addition, he started serving Pune as the district's Guardian Minister in 2004 and remained in his post till 2014.

Following his return to the NCP, it was announced on December 1, 2019, that he would become the Maha Vikas Aghadi government's Deputy Chief Minister starting on December 16, the commencement of the state legislature's winter session.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government disintegrated in 2022 due to a breach in the Shiv Sena. Pawar was appointed Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly following the formation of a government by the BJP and the breakaway Shiv Sena, which included Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister.

After serving some months as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, he again resigned from the Member of the NCP in 2023. Ajit Pawar was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister for the fourth time on July 2, 2023, after splitting from the NCP and joining the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. It is believed that he did this only to make Maharashtra more prosperous. He thinks Maharashtra will develop under PM Narendra Modi's leadership, with backing from the central government. He was also appointed as Minister of Finance and Planning on July 14, 2023.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Parth contested the election from Maval Constituency, but he was not able to win the election and lost to Shrirang Appa Chandu Barne, the Shiv Sena MP, by more than 2,15,913 votes, which is a big margin.
