Cricket Australia awarded her a contract with the National Performance Squad in April 2019, just ahead of the 2019-20 season.

King earned a spot in Australia's Women's Ashes squad for the January 2022 series against England. Initially selected as a replacement for the injured Georgia Wareham and Sophie Molineux, she was preferred over Amanda-Jade Wellington as a surprise inclusion. Wellington was left out to allow her to feature for the Australia A team. On January 20, 2022, King made her debut for Australia in Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) against England. Later that month, she was included in the Australian squad for the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.

On January 27, 2022, she marked her debut in Women's Test cricket for Australia in the one-off Women's Ashes Test against England. Subsequently, on February 3, 2022, she made her entry into Women's One Day International (WODI) cricket, representing Australia in the Women's Ashes against England. Impressively, within just fourteen days, she secured her first cap in each of the three formats of international cricket. Recognizing her exceptional performances during the cricket summer, she inked her maiden contract with Cricket Australia in April 2022.

She claimed 12 wickets at an average of 24.50 in nine matches, notably achieving a session of 3 for 64 against England in the crucial final, making her the second-highest wicket-taker for Australia during the triumphant 2022 World Cup campaign. Her remarkable performance also positioned her as the fourth-joint highest wicket-taker in the tournament, marking a career-defining achievement that subsequently solidified her status as the first-choice player for the Australian team.

In May of that year, King earned inclusion in Australia's squad for the cricket competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Additionally, she found her place in the Australian women's T20 World Cup squad in January 2023.

Personal Life

King was born in Clarinda, a Victorian suburb near Melbourne. Her parents relocated from Chennai, the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, to Melbourne, making her of Anglo-Indian origin. After trying various sports, including baseball, softball, and tennis, King followed her brother's lead and developed an interest in cricket. Although her initial passion was for tennis, where she first picked up a racket at the age of five, she actively participated in Australia's premier inter-club representative tennis competition, the Tennis Victoria Pennant. Additionally, she served as a ball child during the 2011 Australian Open women's singles final. King also engaged in activities such as the Monash University Baseball Club and briefly played for her school's softball team.
