His Thoughts on Sometimes Failing the Composer Inside of HimAmaal Malik prefers to be referred to as a composer-singer. He has definitely sung less in the seven years since he made his debut as a music composer with Jai Ho (2014). He contributed his vocals to a few songs, including The Goggle Song (Mubarakan) and Aashiq Surrender Hua (Badrinath Ki Dulhania), both of which went on to become chart-toppers. When asked what a song needs to have in order for him to sing along, Malik responds that he has learned one thing in the time he has been creating, and it's amazing how a song selects the singer. All of these factors play a role in determining the ideal performer for a piece of music while it is being created and as the words are being heard. There are occasions when a song's composer may become overly connected to it and truly desire to sing it. The 29-year-old, however, continues that most of the time, he doesn't sing if he feels that his voice is harming the music and isn't enabling it to reach or elevate to a level a seasoned vocalist can. His songs are extremely straightforward and hummable to listeners. Still, in the studio, they have a great deal of complexity, which Armaan Malik and Arijit Singh have the ability to extract. Malik is open enough to acknowledge that he can tell when his voice doesn't work with a particular tune, which is why he isn't obsessive about performing every song he writes. He claims that he has often felt that by performing the song, he is failing the composer in him. Therefore, he never pushes himself. He is more excited and comfortable being a composer. He occasionally records his voice as a gift for the Amaalians, as his supporters refer to themselves. He wants to be referred to as a composer, as it brings him greater joy.
