Avani Chaturvedi

Indian pilot Squadron Leader Avani Chaturvedi was born in the Madhya Pradesh district of Rewa on October 27, 1993. She and her two colleagues,Mohana Singh Jitarwal and Bhawana Kanth, were proclaimed the first women combat pilots in India.

In June 2016, three of them were accepted into the Indian Air Force fighter squadron. On June 18, 2016, the then-defense minister Manohar Parrikar formally commissioned them to serve the country.

The Indian government decided to let women join the fighter stream in October 2015.

Thanks to Chaturvedi's accomplishment, India is now among the nations that let women pilot fighter jets, along with the United States, Israel, Pakistan, and Britain.

Early Life of Avani Chaturvedi

October 27, 1993, is the day Avni was born. Her mother stays at home while her father, Dinkar Chaturvedi, works as a superintending engineer for the Madhya Pradesh government's Water Resource Department.

She finished her education in Deolond, a little town in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district. (6) She joined the college's flying club after completing her bachelor's degree in technology at Banasthali University in Rajasthan in 2014, and she has always been captivated by flying. She received a recommendation from AFSB after passing the AFCAT.

Chaturvedi enjoys painting and sketching, in addition to playing table tennis and chess. Avani was motivated to enlist in the Indian Air Force by her older brother, an officer in the Indian Army. She has also had a few hours of flying instruction at Banasthali University, her college.

At the age of 25, she finished her training at the Air Force Academy after being chosen for it. In June 2016, Chaturvedi became a fighter pilot following additional training. In her first posting after commissioning was as a Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer pilot at AFS Bidar.

In 2018, Chaturvedi accomplished first Indian women pilots when she flew a MiG-21 on her own. Avani received a promotion to Flight Lieutenant in 2018. When she participated in an aerial wargame in Japan in 2023, she made history as the first female fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. In
