He completed his graduate studies in mechanical engineering in Russia.

Gopichand's elder brother Premchand, an associate director, tragically dies in a car crash. Due to a visa issue, Gopichand was in Russia at the time and could not attend his brother's funeral. He also has a younger sister who works as a dentist.
