Javed Ali

Javed Ali is one of the top singers in India; he is a playback singer who sings mostly in Hindi. Apart from Hindi language, Javed can also sing in other languages like, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, etc. He was born in Delhi and his birth name was Javed Hussain. Notably, he started singing with Qawwali and people loved him a lot. He had learnt the art of singing Qawwali from his father who was a very famous singer of Qawwali.

Javed was born on 5th July 1982 in Panchkuian Road, Delhi. He completed his schooling at Ramjas School, Paharganj, Delhi. Singers who were mentoring Javed used to say that Javed had magic in his voice. Ghulam Ali has always been a mentor for Javed Ali, and through his guidance, Javed has achieved a lot of fame in his life. Ghulam Ali always believed that Javed would have a great future in singing. Javed participated in many live concerts of Ghulam Ali from where he learned so much. Later, Javed changed his name from Javed Hussain to Javed Ali for giving a tribute to his mentor.

Javed Ali completed his schooling at Ramjas School 4, Paharganj, Delhi, and college from Rizvi College, Mumbai, and Maharashtra.

Career

Javed Ali worked under the guidance of his mentor Ghulam Ali and worked hard to become a singer. In 2002, he sang the song 'Ek Din Teri Raho Main' which was from the film 'Naqaab'. With his first song, Javed attained a lot of popularity and came into the limelight. His journey to become a singer started from here and then he sang many songs in different Bollywood movies and also presented many albums.

After his first song, Javed sang 'Jashan-e-Bahaaran' from 'Jodha Akbar' and 'Arziyan' from 'Delhi-6'. After these songs, he sang many songs and later he became a judge in reality shows. His most famous songs are 'Kun Faya Kun' from the movie 'Rockstar', 'Guzarish' from the Ghajini movie, and 'Galat baat hai' from 'Main Tera Hero'. In most of the Bollywood movie songs, Javed Ali contributed a lot. All his songs are very popular and still counted in the hit list of top songs. Besides singing songs in Hindi language, Javed also sings in many other languages which belong to different regions of India.

Javed judged the biggest reality singing show named 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' and in 2018, he appeared in season 10 of Indian Idol, another biggest reality show in India that could be seen on Sony Entertainment Television. In 2022, Javed hosted the show Super Star Singer.

Javed Ali is very popular for singing devotional songs as well. He has worked with many famous singers like Debashish, Preeti, Charanjeet Singh Sondhi, Sonam Chakraborty, and Priya Bhattacharya. In the year 2006, Javed's first album was released. Recently in 2022, he has presented two more albums, Dil Farebi and Pehli Baar.Besides, Javed Ali has also given live performances all over the world with his bands. In 2016, Javed performed in 9 cities in the United States of America. Then on 15th August, Javed Ali performed with AR Rahman for the celebration of India's 70th Independence Day.

In terms of sports, cricket is Javed's favorite sport and Sachin Tendulkar is his favorite cricketer.

Awards and Nominations

Javed Ali has won many awards throughout his career. In 2009, he won the award for best male playback singer for the song 'Jashn-E-Bahara', which was from the movie Jodha Akbar. Then in 2012, Javed Ali won the Screen Awards for the best playback singer for the title track of the movie 'Ishaqzaade'. Javed Ali won three awards from the Radio Mirchi Awards in 2012, which included:

  • Best song presenting the Sufi tradition for the song "Kun Faya Kun" from the film "Rockstar"
  • Award for best Indipop song "Mera Kya Saheb Haitera" from the movie "Dil ki Battein"
  • Award for best album of the year and Mirchi listener award for the film "Rockstar"

Besides these awards, Javed has also received the 'Yash Bharti Samman' award from the government of Uttar Pradesh; the 'Yash Bharti Samman' award is considered highly honorable. Additionally, Javed was awarded by India TV with the Yuva Award in 2015.
