Early Life and Childhood

  • On June 28, 1991, Kang Min-hyuk was born in Ilsan-gu, Goyang, South Korea. Being the youngest, Kang was also the most beloved of his parents' children. Because of his overindulgence, he developed into an agitated and mischievous child who threatened both his family and his instructors at school. He did well in his studies and received above-average grades despite his conduct.
  • When he was little, music piqued his curiosity the most. His mother, who was a passionate music lover herself, instilled in him a love of music. She taught him the flute and piano, and as he grew older, Kang revealed in classical music. However, after discovering the American band Maroon 5, his musical preferences began to change, and he began to dream of starting a group that would be as popular as Maroon 5.
  • He made some wonderful pals who shared his passion for music. After witnessing them perform live, he began to intensify his music training, realizing that he was meant to follow in their footsteps.
  • Kang became interested in sports when he started middle school and started playing football and basketball more and more. When the time eventually came to choose a profession, Kang prepared himself to become a lawyer by deciding to pursue law. However, fate had other ideas for the gifted young man, and he ended up forming a band. At that point, Kang had taught himself how to drum. He gathered some of his musician friends, and the four of them formed the rock group CNBLUE, with Kang serving as the drummer.

Personal Life

On July 31, 2018, Kang enrolled in the military. He was assigned to the 55th Division in Gyeonggi Province's Yongin. The Ministry of National Defence has announced that effective March 19, 2020, Kang will be released from his employment without having to report back to his base for his ETS leave.

Career

From 2009 to Now: CNBLUE

  • In 2009, Kang joined the CNBLUE. On August 19, 2009, the trio made their Japanese debut with the mini album Now or Never, released by independent label AI Entertainment. With the release of the short album Bluetory in 2010, they made their formal debut in Korea, where the lead single "I'm a Loner" quickly became popular.

From 2010 until the Present: Acting Roles and Solo Activities

  • Alongside Lee Jong-hyun, another member of CNBLUE, Kang made his acting debut in the 2010 omnibus film Acoustic.
    The SBS drama It's Okay, Daddy's Girl marked its small-screen premiere after that.
    He was cast in 2011 in MBC's youth melodrama Heartstrings, starring Jung Yong-hwa, a member of CNBLUE. He performed on the drama's "Star" OST.
  • He rose to fame as a playboy while starring in the weekend family drama My Husband Got a Family on KBS in 2012. With 25 weeks in a row at the top of the weekly rating list with rating peaks of 45.8 percent (TNmS) and 52.3 percent (AGB Nielsen), the show was the highest-rated Korean drama of 2012. Following his role in the 2013 teen drama The Heirs, written by Kim Eun-sook, Kang's fame only grew. Kang and his co-star Krystal Jung were selected as the 2013 DramaFever Awards' Best Onscreen Couple.
  • In 2015, Kang hosted the JTBC program Mum is Watching and joined the regular cast of KBS's reality-variety program Brave Family. In 2016, after a three-year break, Kang returned to television with the musical drama Entertainer on SBS, for which he was honored with an Excellence Award at the SBS Drama Awards. In the same year, he started hosting Music Bank, a live music program on KBS, alongside Solbin from Laboum, from July to November.
  • Kang was a doctor in MBC's medical drama Hospital Ship in 2017, which was his first major role.
  • Kang appeared in the 2018 historical comedy film The Princess and the Matchmaker in a supporting role. In 2015, the movie was filmed.
  • On January 7 and February 14, respectively, Kang released two Japanese singles in 2019. The songs are titled Moon Talk and On the Cheek. On March 13, he released the album, which included these two hits and three additional Japanese tracks.
  • Early in 2020, after being released from the military, Kang returned to the stage with the romantic comedy-drama How to Be Thirty. In February 2021, the streaming television series made its Kakao TV debut.
  • Kang appeared in Oh My Lady Lord, an MBC romantic comedy series, which debuted in March 2021. Kang launched his own YouTube channel, Hobby Binger, in October 2021.

Recent Ventures

  • Kang's first published work as a writer was the MD book Not Everything, which was released on March 25, 2022. The volumes will be on display together. This MD comes with blankets, coasters, mugs, and punctuation stickers.
  • In September 2022, news came out that Kang will be hosting the 2022 edition of Kang Min Hyuk from the CNBLUE 'The Passion' Fan Meeting in Bangkok on October 9. But it's been rescheduled. In October 2022, news became public that Kang would be the host of the 2022 Kang Min Hyuk from the CNBLUE Fan Meeting on December 4 in Taipei.

Charity

According to reports on April 6, 2019, Kang gave 10 million won to the victims of forest fires in Gangwon Province's Sokcho and Goseong Countries. The gift would go towards rebuilding affected regions, according to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.

  • Kang, a food enthusiast, claims that he goes on huge diets for a few days after being angry to maintain control over his weight. Similar to the majority of South Korean celebrities, Kang's public relations firm has recommended that he hide his dating activities. But despite the lack of evidence from either party, his name has been commonly associated with Jung Hye-sung.
