Introduction

Madhusudan Rao was a well-known Odia poet and writer, commonly regarded as the "Father of Modern Odia Poetry." On January 19, 1853, he was born in the Odisha district of Puri. Bhagirithi Rao, his father, was a police officer. Madhusudan Rao attended Ravenshaw College in Cuttack.

Rao began composing poems as a child. Although his early poems were influenced by traditional Odia poetry, he quickly began to explore new forms and genres. He released his first collection of poems, "Kabitavali," in 1873. This collection was a critical and economic success, establishing Rao as an important figure in Odia literature.

Writing Style
