Indian actress and model Mahima Chaudhry rose to stardom after making her acting debut in the 1997 Hindi film Pardes. She was born and raised in Assam, where her early years were characterized by involvement in athletics and support from a maternal aunt who produced films for Doordarshan. She was motivated by this inspiration to pursue an acting profession. Mahima started out in the entertainment business as a model, appearing in print ads and fashion events.

In 1995, she appeared in a Pepsi TV commercial alongside prominent actors Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai. This was her big break. She then made appearances in advertisements for companies like Fair Lovely, Hawkins, and Alapatt Jewellers. When Indian director Subhash Ghai saw her on a music program and gave her the lead role in "Pardes," she made the move from singing to acting.

Mahima returned to the movie business in 2022 with the Hindi movie "The Signature" after taking a break. She bravely revealed her struggle with breast cancer.
