Mahira Khan was born on 21 December 1984 to a family of Urdu speakers from the Muhajir dynasty in Karachi, Pakistan, where she was born into a traditional Urdu family. Her family's history was associated with her Pashtun heritage. She was brought to Pakistan after India was partitioned. Mahira Khan attended Foundation Public School from where she passed her O-Levels. She relocated to California to pursue university studies at the age of 17 and she then attended Santa Monica College, where she graduated at age 22. She attended the University of Southern California, she got a bachelor's degree from there, completing her second year at the university. Despite living in the United States for a shorter period, she returned to Pakistan in 2008 without finishing her undergraduate degree. Mahira Khan worked as a cashier in a Rite Aid store in Los Angeles.

Personal Life

Ali Askari, a South Indian businessman from Turkey, married Mahira Khan in Los Angeles in 2006. Despite Mahira Khan's father's disapproval, they had a traditional Islamic wedding in 2007. They both were blessed with a son in 2009. However, their relationship eventually deteriorated, leading to their divorce in 2015.
