Narinder won the Sangrur Assembly area election and beat the current cabinet minister, Vijay Inder Singla, from the Indian National Congress in 2022. She's the youngest MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) in Punjab. She's also the district youth president of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Political Journey

Narinder Kaur Bharaj started her political journey in 2014. That year, she set up a polling station for the Aam Aadmi Party in her village and became their polling agent. In 2018, she became the leader of young people and spoke for the Aam Aadmi Party in Sangrur. She's a very smart girl.

In the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party chose Narinder Kaur Bharaj as their MLA candidate. She had to compete against Punjab Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla. With a lot of dedication and hard work, Narinder became the MLA of Sangrur.

2022 Elections

She was selected by the Aam Aadmi Party on December 26, 2021, to represent the Sangrur region in the 2022 assembly elections. This was a great opportunity for Narinder, but she had to fight against some of her party members, including Dinesh Bansal and Minku Jawandha. They protested at Bhagwant Mann's house when her name was announced because they disapproved of her being the candidate.

On January 28, 2022, she submitted her formal application to run for office. She disclosed that the entire value of her assets was around 24,409 INR, which was the lowest total among all the state candidates.

In the election, she faced formidable opposition from former MLA Arvind Khanna and cabinet minister Vijay Inder Singla. But on March 10, 2022, she defeated Singla by a significant margin of 36,430 votes, winning with 74,851 votes, or 51.67% of the total. The margin was the biggest ever recorded in Sangrur.

In the 2022 election for the Punjab Legislative Assembly, the Aam Aadmi Party performed quite well, capturing 92 of the 117 seats, giving them a 79% majority. On March 16, 2022, Bhagwant Mann assumed the position of Chief Minister.
