What is the full form of PWDPWD: Public Works DepartmentPWD stands for Public Works Department. It is a Govt. of India department which deals with the construction and maintenance of public infrastructures like roads, government building, bridges, water systems, and more. It is a central authority that is responsible for all types of public sector works in India. To arrange the safe drinking water for the city and repair the damaged water pipes is also the responsibility of the PWD. Furthermore, if there is any damage to any government schools, hospitals, roads, the repair is done by PWD. PWD is present in every state of India. It has divisions, sub-divisions, and sections. In all states, it has almost the same work and responsibilities, like design and construction of all public projects undertaken by Government, building and developing roads, safety, and facilities on roads and highways, maintenance and restructuring of government buildings, etc. This type of work formerly conducted by the military in India.
