About Sunitha (Singer)Sunitha is one of the most popular playback singers in India. She is a talented voice artist who has mostly contributed to Telugu movies. At the age of 15 years only, Sunitha received various prestigious national awards. She has won a national award from All India Radio. Sunitha was born in Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada on 10th May 1978. By profession, Sunitha is considered a voice artist despite being a singer. In the year 1995, Sunitha started singing publically and started earning money. She has not only performed in India, but she has gone to around 19 foreign countries as a voice artist, where her contributions are highly noted. Sunitha has visited the USA, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Uganda, Scotland, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Japan, Oman, etc. For the first time, Sunitha sang the songs for the movie 'Gulabi'. Sunitha started her training in singing when she was just 6 years old. She got training from various popular singing institutes, including the Shri Pemmaraju Surya Rao in Carnatic Vocal and Light music. Sunitha knew her interest, and she started her career accordingly from an early age. Sunitha got various opportunities and performed in various concerts. When Sunitha was just 13 years old, she performed with her mentor, Guru Pemmaraju Surya Rao, in Tyagaraja Aradhana Utsavalu. Sunitha earned a lot of popularity and won most of the singing competitions wherever she performed; she also got scholarships from the Central government to pursue her musical training. She came from a music background. In her family, everybody loves music and so, they always supported her in singing. Her parents also love music. Sunitha got married in 2021 to a businessman, Rama Krishna Veerapaneni. CareerAs we discussed, Sunitha started her training in music and singing at the age of 6. She got many other trainings later, which were based on government scholarships. Sunitha started singing officially as a playback singer at the age of 17. She started professionally with her debut songs for the movie 'Gulabi'. For the first time, Sunitha sang the song 'Ee Vela Lo Neevu', which was written by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. In 1997, Sunitha sang songs for the movie named 'Bhoomi Geetha' (1997), whose music was composed by Ilayaraja. Besides singing songs for movies, Sunitha has sung songs for many Telugu serials as well. In 1999, Sunitha received her first Nandi award for singing songs for 'Antharangalu'. Sunitha has worked under many famous music directors, who really helped in her overall development in singing. She has worked under the supervision of Ilayaraja, S.V. Raj Kumar Reddy, A.R. Rahman, Sandeep Chowta, etc. Sunitha has mainly sung in three languages: Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. Sunitha initially tried her career as a voice artist and after the release of the film 'Chudalani Undi' in 1998, she entered the world of dubbing with full determination. Sunitha got her identity as a voice-over artist in the Telugu film industry as well. She has made the record of giving voice for 60 movies in a year. The following are some of the top movies in which Sunitha has worked as the voice-over artist: Shankar Dada MBBS, Sri Ramadasu, Nenunnanu, Anand, Godavari, Choodalani Vundi, Ninne Premista, Jayam, Nuvvu Vastavani, Manmadhudu, etc. AwardsSunitha received many awards for her excellent singing; she won her first award in 1999 for the best female playback singer for the TV film Antha Rangaalu. Because of her excellent performance in dubbing, Sunitha won the Nandi Award in 2002 for the best female dubbing artist for the movie 'Jayam'. Then 2003, Sunitha was awarded with Nandi award for the category of best female playback singer for the movie 'Athade Oka Sainyam'. Sunitha won the Nandi Award again in 2004 but this time for the category of best female dubbing artist for the movie 'Anand' for the voice of Kamalinee Mukherjee. In 2012, Sunitha was awarded the Nandi award for the category of the best female dubbing artist for the movie 'Sri Rama Rajyam'. In 2010, Sunitha won many Filmfare awards for the category of best female playback Singer in Kannada for the movie named 'Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu'. Then in 2014, Sunitha won a Filmfare award for the category of best female playback Telugu singer for the movie 'Oohalu Gusagusalade' for the song "Em Sandehamaledu". Sunitha was nominated for a Filmfare award for the best female playback singer in 2009 for the song "Neele Neele Mabbulu" of the movie Pravarakhyudu. She was also nominated for the Filmfare awards in 2010 for the category of best female playback Telugu singer for the movie 'Vedam' for the song "Egiripothe". There are some other awards that Sunitha received for her excellence. In 2009, Sunitha got a TV award for the best female playback singer, which was given to her by the Delhi Telugu Academy in Hyderabad. In 2011, the Lata Mangeshkar Award for best singer was presented to her by the state government. Sunitha was awarded for best playback singer for the song "Em Sandeham led" in 2014, and in 2015, NTR Memorial award.
