Tina Munim

Tina Munim is a former Indian actress. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, she was a major actress in the Hindi cinema business. Her swimsuit scene in the 1978 film Des Pardes is still remembered.

She is active with a number of foundations and organizations. Her work includes everything from elder care to the promotion of Indian art.

Personal Life

Tina Munim was born on February 11th, 1957. She graduated from the MM Pupils Own School in Khar, Bombay, in 1975. She was crowned Femina Teen Princess India in 1975, the same year. She competed in the Miss Teenage Intercontinental pageant in Aruba, where she also finished second runner-up.

She then enrolled at Jai Hind College to pursue a degree in arts. Later, in the 1970s, she entered the Hindi cinema business, where she enjoyed a successful thirteen-year career as a major actress.

She got married to Anil Ambani, the younger son of Indian business man- Mogul Dhirubhai Ambani, who established Reliance Industries on February 2, 1991.

Jai Anmol and Jai Anshul are their two sons. Jai Anmol, the eldest, wedded Khrisha Shah on February 20, 2022. Mukesh Ambani, the chairman, managing director, and major shareholder of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), is Munim's brother-in-law. Nita Ambani, the Reliance Foundation's founder, and Mukesh's wife, is her sister-in-law.

Career

Films

Tina made her Bollywood debut in filmmaker Dev Anand's Des Pardes. "Man Pasand" and "Lootmaar" are two of her movie collaborations with Dev Anand. In Basu Chatterjee's Baaton Baaton Mein, she played alongside Amol Palekar. Karz and Yeh Vaada Raha are two of her memorable films with Rishi Kapoor.

Some of the films in which she featured opposite actor Rajesh Khanna are Alag Alag, Fiffty Fiffty, Paapi Pet Ka Sawaal Hai, Souten, Bewafai, Bhagwaan Dada, Suraag, Insaaf Main Karoonga, Rajput, Aakhir Kyon?, and Adhikar. Jigarwala, her most recent film, was released in 1991.

Arts & Culture

She arranged the inaugural Harmony Art event in 1995 with the goal of providing a platform for emerging artists to exhibit alongside seasoned veterans and acknowledged masters.

Harmony Art Foundation featured young Indian painters at Christie's in London in 2008, calling attention to India's richness of potential. Since 2008, she has been on the board of trustees of the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, the country's oldest continuously functioning museum.

She has also served on the boards of the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai and the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad.

She was also elected to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) rebuilt General Assembly. She has been involved in various charitable initiatives, including Aseema, an NGO dedicated to the rehabilitation of street children, and the restoration of Elephanta Island, a World Heritage Site near Mumbai, in collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of India and UNESCO.

Elder Welfare & Healthcare

In 2004, Ambani established the Harmony for Silvers Foundation. This non-governmental organization, established in Mumbai, aims to improve the lives of the elderly.

Harmony - Celebrate Age, the magazine, the Harmony Interactive Centre for Silver Citizens, the Harmony Research Division, the Harmony Silver Awards, and the Harmony Senior Citizens' Runs in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru have all been part of its operations.

In order to fill inadequacies in Indian healthcare, Ambani established the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute (KDAH) in Mumbai in 2009. It is Mumbai's first hospital to be accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International), NABH (National Accreditation Board for Healthcare, India), CAP (College of American Pathologists, USA), and NABL (National Accreditation Board for Laboratories, India).

Other notable features include Western India's first comprehensive center for liver transplantation and the first integrated center for children's cardiac care; its robotic surgery program; rehabilitation and sports medicine centers; and its initiative to open 18 cancer care centers in rural Maharashtra.
