Tressa Jolly is a remarkable Indian Badminton Player who has represented India several times on the International Platform. Her co-partner in the badminton court is well acclaimed and talented Gayatri Gopichand.

Personal Life Details

She was born on 27 May 2003 in Kerala. She was trained under her father who was a former physical education teacher and volleyball coach in the sports. She has a sister whose name is Mariya Jolly, coincidentally she is also a badminton player.

She was passionate about badminton from a very early young age and began to get training under the mentorship of her father. She received training under the guidance of her father, who trained her for about 6 years. Later, she decided to get training under the seasoned Indian Badminton coach Anil Ramachandran. In the early stage of the badminton training session, she used to play with her sister in the badminton doubles.

She is a right-hand badminton player who received her training under the coach Anil Ramachandran and Arun Vishnu. While she was 7 years old, she participated in the U-10 State Championship hosted in Kannur, Kerala. After thereon, she began to concentrate on doubles categories as she used to do well in in this format.

Gayatri Gopichand is her co-partner at the badminton court. Their partnership is one of the most valuable, admired, and dominating partnerships. It has proved to be beneficial for the Indian Badminton team as they have consistently delivered in the high-stakes matches.

Gayatri Gopichand is also a remarkable player hailing from the state of Telangana. They both met at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy, which is run by the legendary former Indian Badminton Player Pullela Gopichand, who also happens to be the father of Gayatri Gopichand.

Both met at the academy, and after observing the game style of Gayatri and Tressa, Arun, the badminton coach, decided to form a partnership for the women's mixed doubles. From there, the partnership continues to dominate badminton, and it is evident from their magnificent performance in the tournaments.

Journey of Determination

She has reached this stage with lots of sacrifice and struggle. She is trying very hard to qualify for the Olympics 2024. She has received a scholarship from the Sports Ministry, but this is not sufficient to meet her financial needs. Her father had to quit his job to help her daughter. Her father could not concentrate on both at the same time. However, she is filled with confidence as she has come so far.
