1. Materials and design

The miniature Kodak logo is located at the bottom of the thick bezels surrounding the display of the Kodak SMART TV. Your living room will appear stunning thanks to the sophisticated, bezel-free design of this TV. In addition to providing a superb, frameless picture quality that enthrals you with its pictures, this TV expands the viewing area and adds a touch more elegance.

It functions exceptionally fast and effectively thanks to its 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. Due to the device's dual-band WiFi connection, you may use it without suffering latency and take advantage of improved entertainment. We use the television with the included stand rather than the normal wall mount. If you desire to use an audio bar with this TV, you'll certainly need to find another location for it since the "feet" are somewhat low.

When compared to modern UHD TVs from well-known companies, the television is quite thick, but the weight is well distributed. However, the non-adjustable stand was simple, shifting the complete device about without bothering about its foundation.

However, the majority of the connectors on the back of the device are difficult to access. If you plan to wall mount the Kodak SMART TV, this will be a significant problem. The rear of the device has two HDMI connections, Ethernet, as well as composite and component cable connectors, all of which face downward.

You may take advantage of seamless connection possibilities with a range of alternatives to suit your requirements with this TV. Connecting is made easy with the HDMI ARC/CEC, Bluetooth v5.0, and USB 3.0 port. Because Chromecast and AirPlay are so simple to use, you can stream video from your Android or iOS smartphone to the large screen of this TV with ease.

2. Software Features and Specifications

A modified version of Android powers the Kodak SMART TV, and generally the user interface is pretty snappy. You have a world of limitless options accessible to you thanks to the enormous array of Kodak TV applications. The built-in Google Play Store makes it easy to find a large range of applications to meet all of your demands, whether they be for entertainment or gaming. The Play Store can be easily accessed and offers an endless variety of applications thanks to the convenient dedicated remote hotkey.

Users of Google TV have access to a single interface that allows for simple control of a wide range of entertainment choices and smart home capabilities. Google TV delivers a seamless and immersive experience that raises home entertainment and automation to new levels, allowing users to browse and watch content as well as manage smart devices.

The experience while using the specialised buttons on the remote to access YouTube, Netflix, and Hotstar is quick and efficient. When the applications have finished loading, you may use the TV remote to browse through them. There are extra buttons on the remote for taking screenshots, browsing the SD card's contents, and playing back media.

3. Video Performance

The TV can playback 4K and HDR content, so we first tested to see how it handled Netflix streaming at the maximum quality settings. The change was absolutely noticeable and had a good effect on the watching experience of Stranger Things Season 2. The color gamut and brightness, though, fell short of other (much more costly) LG TVs, and the black levels aren't as deep as we'd like.

It performed much better in bright situations, where there were virtually not any apparent objects, but it suffered in darker sequences on series like Daredevil and Stranger Things, where there were spots of light on the display that shouldn't have been there. Skin tones are great, but if you watch animation programs, you could also note that this set's color spectrum is a touch reduced. However, it is a very different thing than boosting things via the settings to improve color brightness.

Compared to HD TVs from manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, or LG, Kodak is more costly, and while that is the case, it functions well. However, if you take the cost factor out of the equation, Kodak's color spectrum seems to be a bit condensed. Though it doesn't quite match LG's Signature OLED series in brightness, it is less of a concern.

The same thing happened when we watched a few additional streaming programs in both 4K and full HD, with and without HDR. The UHD variant of Batman v. Superman was played from a Blu-ray player as we made the decision to test the TV further with a little regional material. As predicted, this had little impact on the overall viewing experience.

While the screen has outstanding viewing angles and brightness, the contrast for blacks is not as effective as it may be. On the contrary, the TV's image is clear and free of looseness or lagging; playing video games and enjoying action-packed television programs did not cause any problems with motion fluidity.

Even in applications like Guitar Hero, where split-second timing is important, the manufacturer claims a refresh rate of 60Hz, and this claim has been proven by how properly managed it was. The usual HD programs you'll get from your DTH set top box looks nice. Even if you don't already have a lot of 4K material, this TV may be a decent choice since the upscaling is excellent enough that nothing seems jagged or fuzzy.

4. Sound Quality

The television has good audio quality. Dolby Atmos technology from Kodak TV allows you to experience a theater-like acoustic environment in the comfort of your living room, providing a rich, vibrant sound that brings entertainment to life. Due to its features, including DTS TruSurround sound, this TV offers excellent in quality surround sound audio.

Conclusion

The new Kodak TV is slightly heavy, has inbuilt Google Play. Though the costs were much more, we've seen pictures with superior image quality. However, it balances for these drawbacks by offering an extensive range of applications, including useful buttons to start some of the most well-liked streaming possibilities at the moment.

You may gather a large group without anybody feeling left out as a result of the screen's excellent viewing angles. All of this operates well, has a reasonable pricing, and a snappy user interface. The Kodak seems like a wonderful bargain in comparison to the major manufacturers like LG, Sony, and Samsung since they continue to compete on a different level when it comes to cost.

Kodak is a well-known company, but it is still a young player in the TV industry. At this price range, 50-inch 4K smart TVs from other companies, like Vu and TCL, are also available. However, these models also need certain choices. Kodak's product is yet appealing in comparison to some of these but it might not be necessary to purchase.
