Motorola G73 5G is a budget-friendly smartphone that is available in India for a price of Rs 18.999. It features 8GB RAM and 128 GB of storage and comes in Midnight Blue or Lucent White color options.

However, it has some drawbacks, such as an ill-fitting LCD, plastic construction, weak cameras, and only one year of operating system updates. Despite these drawbacks, the device's overall quality is excellent, making it a worthwhile purchase.

Motorola continues to make incremental improvements to its camera system; however, the quality of the cameras is not worth the Rs 18999 price tag. In the current market, few high-quality smartphones are priced below Rs 20,000, so if you are looking for a smartphone with a good camera and an LCD screen, the Motorola G73 5G may be a good choice.

Motorola G73 5G Benefits and Drawbacks

If you're looking for a phone that looks just like a regular Android device but has a few extra features, like a 12-5G band frequency, NFC support, an extra 3.5 mm and audio jack, a 120Hz refresh rate, the latest Bluetooth version, stereo speakers, and a good gaming experience.

The downside is that it has an LCD screen, a plastic design, a one-year OS update, and cameras that need to be improved. Plus, it doesn't have an integrated fingerprint scanner.

Motorola G73 5G Display

Motorola G73 5G has a front-facing fingerprint sensor, a side-mounted LCD, and a rear-facing camera. The LCD measures 6.50 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution. The display's brightness is adequate for outdoor use, making it suitable for watching movies and playing video games. Panda Glass protects the display; however, Motorola did not provide any information regarding the type of glass used.

Both the frame and the back of the Motorola G73 5G smartphone are constructed from plastic. Therefore, the initial touch of the Motorola 73G 5G smartphone has a somewhat inexpensive feel. However, the build quality will become a distant memory once the user gets accustomed to the smartphone and uses the cover.

The Construction is Top-notch

Overall, we think it's a shame that Motorola didn't come up with an OLED display since this is a phone that costs Rs.19000, not Rs.15000. It looks like they also sell a Motorola G82 for Rs.20,000, so if that's the case, then this phone should never have been made.

Performance

• The new and improved MediaTek processor, the Dimension 930, performs satisfactorily in daily usage.
• It's not a top-of-the-line processor, but it does its best to give you the best performance possible. That's why you won't have any problems with your smartphone - it'll work just as well whether you're always on social media or playing games.
• The Motorola G73 5G is equipped with the Android 13 operating system and MyUX user interface, and there are no advertisements in the user interface; it does come with a few pre-installed applications, including Facebook.
• Motorola has added a few new apps to Android 13, including Motorola Security, which combines many beneficial features.
• The bad news is that the G73 will only get OS updates for a year, so the last OS update it will get is Android 14. On the plus side, it also gets security updates for three years.
• Motorola should have offered at least two years of OS upgrades, which other companies do, to benefit someone, whether it be users or even the competition.
• It would have been preferable to give 2 years of OS upgrades rather than 1 because Motorola is sluggish in releasing OS updates.
• Overall, there won't be any issues with software or performance; the main issue is OS upgrades.

Cameras

Surprise! The Motorola G73 5G only features a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 16MP selfie camera on the front. It does not include the 2MP+2MP dual-sensor setup. While the front camera can only shoot at 1080p@30fps, the back cameras can capture videos at 1080p@30/60fps. Finally, manufacturers are realizing that high-quality cameras do not require 2MP sensors.

The 50MP primary sensor is highly calibrated to capture beautiful photographs in favorable lighting settings; however, it suffers a little in low light. For instance, if you are taking pictures of your friends in the evening and the light is behind their heads, the cameras may not be able to adjust the light, which can sometimes lead to blurry images. That means you will need to take many pictures if you want to make the most out of the cameras on your Motorola G73.

It's got more depth, too, with a macro sensor built into the sensor. It gives Motorola G73 a nice touch, and the 8MP Ultra-Wide lens is also there. The sensor produces fewer sharp images during the day and even at night, which further illustrates the same problem. Now, virtually all low-cost ultra-wide lenses suffer from the same problems, and unfortunately, no action is being taken to address them.

Therefore, the recommendation would be to avoid opening the sensor regularly and only utilize the ultra-wide lens if necessary. Because the sensor doesn't produce vivid colors, like Realme, Vivo, OPPO, and even Xiaomi, you won't enjoy the 16MP sensor that is present. From natural photographs to those with colors added to faces, Motorola's attempt at a new idea attracted user attention. Despite this, Motorola has incorporated filters that can be utilized to improve the user interface.

Regarding the video, there is no Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and the cameras are based on Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS), which is inefficient. Therefore, if you are looking for a better Smartphone for watching videos, please look elsewhere.

Audio Excellence

The Moto G73 is a great phone if you're looking for excellent sound quality. It's got stereo speakers and an audio connection, so you don't have to worry about any issues. Plus, you'll easily make voice and video calls since it has two great microphones. Motorola also did a great job with the speakers - they're loud and clear.

Battery Life

Even though other phones have been upgraded to 60W, the Moto G73 5G still has the same 30W wired charging as before. If you're a regular user, you'll need to charge it twice a day if you want to play games or do a bunch of other stuff, but for the average user, it'll last all day. In that case, 60W would be superb, but 30W is still good enough.

Conclusion

While Motorola is doing well, they need to do a better job with their cameras; they can't just add more cameras with little to no upgrades. While the G73 5G is a good phone, it's only for some, especially if you're a smartphone fan that prioritizes photography.
