Introduction

Nokia X30 5G is another great phone launched by the famous Nokia brand in recent days. It is a high-quality mobile phone, offering long battery life and a camera with good photos. It offers high performance with good features. This is a high-end price segment phone.

Nokia X30 5G Review

Nokia X30 5G is an expensive mobile phone priced at Rs. 48999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. The current price of the phone is Rs. 47999. However, one can get it for around 35000 INR during offers. It is mainly available in two colors, Ice White and Cloudy Blue. It is a solid and eco-friendly build mobile phone.

Packaging: Unboxing the Nokia X30 5G

The Nokia X30 5G comes in brownish cardboard, which makes it eco-friendly by eliminating plastic packaging. The box contains a charging cable but fails to provide the charger. This has also been done to save the environment. There are some documents in the box, as we see in every phone packaging. Fortunately, Nokia provides a soft silicone case separately, not included with the phone.

Design and Build

The Nokia X30 5G is a solid mobile phone with a thick frame. The back of the phone is made of polycarbonate, which gives a smooth and matte finish look. It weighs around 185 grams. One would find the fingerprint sensor's placement on the screen, but it's not that responsive. There is a solid camera bump with two lenses on the rear panel. The power and the volume buttons have been placed on the right side. Up front, the top-middle area houses a selfie camera styled in a punch-hole arrangement. In addition, there is also Gorilla Glass protection on the screen, which helps prevent unintended scratches.

Display

Nokia X30 5G has an impressive AMOLED display which can be found in almost every phone in that price segment. It is 6.4 inches large. The display is good and bright and provides appealing color quality. One can watch videos and scroll through media or web pages without any issues. Since the screen is quite responsive, it is suitable for all kinds of tasks.

Software & Performance

When we check the performance of any smartphone, we connect the performance to its price. But, in this case, that's not the case. The Nokia X30 5G has a 695 5G chipset, which is not that satisfactory as per price because there are other mobile phones with a better chipset than this in the market. So, the performance of the Nokia X30 5G is average. It's suitable for everyday tasks like listening to music, checking social media, etc. The only problem one would face is difficulty switching from one app to another or opening multiple tabs in a browser simultaneously. Besides, it is also not good for heavy gaming.

It runs on Android 12 and claims to offer three major OS upgrades in the future. There are some pre-installed apps like Spotify, Netflix, Video Editor, and GoPro Quick, which one may find unnecessary. However, users can delete or uninstall these apps whenever they desire. Despite all these things, the clean interface and OS updates have always been the strong points of Nokia phones. Overall, day-to-day performance is satisfactory but don't expect much in terms of performance.

Camera

Nokia X30 5G has a 50MP main camera and a 13mp ultrawide shooter camera. The dual rear camera setup also has an LED flash. The pictures taken with this camera are good but could be better. One may get their work done with fine details under favorable light conditions. The main camera captures good images that can be used to store moments.

If we talk about ultrawide cameras, the smartphone offers great results. However, it takes time to process images. Firstly, it takes time to capture the photos and then adds artificial intelligence (AI) to make the photos look better. The results are good, but the images can be unnatural at times, as a lot of AI processing has been done to make the images look better.

The portrait shots of the phone are nice, but the AI makes it fake by adding so much blur. But, the Nokia X30 5G sometimes offers a great portrait with a clean cutout. The performance of the portrait is decent at night with less noise.

Network & Connectivity

As the name suggests, the Nokia X30 5G is the phone with the latest connectivity options, offering 5G connectivity. Additionally, the phone also has other specialized wireless connectivity options like Wi-Fi (dual band) and Bluetooth, which ease attachment with other peripherals or handheld devices. In terms of port, the phone houses the USB Type-C (USB 2.0) charging port, supporting OTG (on-the-go) devices.

Audio

The audio of the smartphone could be better. The mono speaker doesn't offer stereo output. There is no headphone jack, so one must jump to wireless earbuds. It would have been better if it included a dual-speaker system.

Battery

The Nokia X30 5G has a 4,200mAh non-removable battery that can last a day if charged fully. It supports a 33W charger which provides a fast-charging experience. It almost charges the mobile fully in one and a half hours. However, the smartphone does get warm when charged. When fully charged, the phone automatically comes to a normal temperature. One can get a healthy amount of texting and scrolling screen-on-time, but it might be less for those who are heavy users of mobile phones. Overall, the battery performance is satisfactory.

Verdict

After looking at the features and performance of the Nokia X30 5G, one can admit that it has a stylish design, lighter weight, an upgraded display, and satisfactory performance. It includes everything that one smartphone should have. However, considering the hardware and features, the price of the phone is quite high. It's just that Nokia is asking a high price which is not worth it when compared to other better mobiles available in the market at this price point.
