Realme C21 Review

Introduction

The Realme C21 has an excellent camera, fairly good specifications but an average performance. There are a lot of good things about this phone such as its battery life being very good, it has a nice design, and a decent camera. The cons of this phone are that its performance is pretty average and it also has a slow charging speed.

Realme released the Realme C21 and C20 in late August at a competitive price, thanks to their new distributor. Having to compete with other companies and a market to overpower, Realme released its C21 model for Rs. 16,999 in Nepal. The phone features the MediaTek Helio G35 chipset and is the most recent model in their entry-level C-series.

Basic Specifications

The phone has a good design, with dimensions of 165.2 x 76.4 x 8.9 mm, dual Nano-SIM space as well as a textured pattern design. The Realme C21's design is remarkably similar to that of the other C-Series Realme phones. Its back is patterned and textured.

Although the phone's back and frame are both composed of plastic, it feels sturdy. The rear has a textured finish, which makes it less slippery and prevents fingerprints from adhering to it.

On the right side of the phone are the volume and power buttons. A SIM card tray with enough for two Nano-SIM cards and a micro-SD card is located on the left. This quality adds to the ranking of this phone. On the bottom, there is a micro-USB port, a microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The C-series phones from Realme have a speaker on the back rather than the bottom. Users might have to dim the phone's display when listening to music to prevent muffled sounds. Along with the speaker, the back of the device has a Realme logo, a square camera bump, and a fingerprint reader.

Detailed Description

1.Display

The display of the phone is 6.5 inches long and has an LCD Panel with HD+ Resolution. The 6.5-inch display on the Realme C21 is huge, but it can only display 720p content. The display on a cheap phone is precisely what you would expect. Both the color and crispness are average. The display is suitable for general use and casual media consumption but has good viewing angles. Additionally, the brightness level is not too poor. Users might have some difficulty in the bright sun, but the outside visibility is fine and functional.

2. Rear Camera

The Realme C21 has a triple-rear camera that includes a 2MP depth sensor, a 2MP B&W camera, and a 13MP primary camera. The video works on 1080p at 30 frames per second.

When zooming in on the image, it becomes clear that the software is unquestionably having a significant influence on the image's clarity, details, and sharpness. Additionally, the colors are oversaturated. However, given the cost, color reproduction and the level of detail in the highlights and shadows are remarkable. For a typical user, the photo quality will be sufficient.

The auto HDR function also performs well, however, it does slow down the shutter.

The camera struggles in low light, as one might anticipate. The pictures are loud and lack details. The images taken in portrait mode have acceptable edge recognition and background blur. Making this phone's photography decent, to sum it up.

3. Front Camera

The selfie camera on the Realme C21 is 5MP. It follows the same pattern as the rear camera with its video working at 1080p at 30 frames per second. In daylight, the front camera also produces outstanding images.

It is advised to deactivate the AI beautifying because it gets enabled by default and softened the image. C21 captures decent selfies with respectable details and brilliant colors when provided with a good source of light. However, the image appears grainy and dull in low light.

4. Video

The Realme C21 has 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM, a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset with a 2.3GHz Arm Cortex A-53 that powers it. The device has a PowerVR GE8320 graphics card as well. The C20, which costs less, also uses the same chipset.

On this phone, simple games can be played without difficulty. However, it struggles to keep up a good frame rate when playing graphically demanding games, which makes this phone not the best choice for a gamer.

6. Battery

It is run by a sizable, non-removable Li-Po 5000mAh battery. The battery may easily last a day, even for frequent users, promising a long battery life to the buyers. If someone uses their phone sparingly, the battery can easily last a couple of days. However, because it only has a 10W charger, it will take more than 2-3 hours to fully charge the gadget. Its inclusion of an antiquated Micro USB port rather than a USB Type-C is another letdown.

Software

The phone includes a lot of bloatware and Realme UI v1.0 out of the box. Many of them, though, can be uninstalled.

To be honest, although the UI is not the finest available software, it is undoubtedly solid and stable. It is un-customizable and has a garish appearance.

Conclusion

The phone works well for simple, everyday chores. The performance of the camera is also acceptable. Regarding the layout and battery, there are no grievances.

However, the phone's actual performance is not excellent. It makes use of the same processor as less expensive phones.

If one doesn't play graphically intense games, this will be helpful. If performance is more important than the average specifications, the wise choice would be to spend a little more money and choose a phone with a MediaTek Helio G80 or higher processor. As for this phone, it is a decent choice for regular day-to-day use.
