OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G Review

Introduction

OnePlus is most popular for its reasonably priced smartphones. They are trying to win over more consumers on a midrange budget. To achieve this, the company unveiled the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G, which aims to compete in Rs 20K price range.

Review

The latest Android phone from OnePlus continues the company's tradition of producing fashionable devices. A velvet polycarbonate back with a two-tone finish is used on the Nord CE 2 Lite. Its Blue Tide model uses a glossier veneer on the top portion of the phone (the parts next to the camera module), and a matte veneer on three-quarters of the back panel. Overall, the smartphone has a classy appearance, and the matte coating does an excellent job of preventing smudges. The smartphone's system comprises two vertical camera lenses, a macro sensor, and an LED flash module on the other side. The smartphone's design has a few Realme Vivo phone similarities. Whatever the case, many people will like the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite's stylish design. The fact that the smartphone's frame is rigid and the unit's framework provides enough robustness.

Unfortunately, OnePlus has removed its iconic alert slider for the Nord CE 2 Lite. Additionally, the smartphone comes with a fingerprint reader mounted on the side that is integrated into the power button, unlike other mid-ranged smartphones. Additionally, the device does not come with dual speakers. That's frustrating because most products in the same price range as the Nord CE 2 Lite have a dual-speaker configuration. The smartphone has a headphone jack on the plus side, which can be located beside the USB Type-C port near the bottom.

A 120Hz-refreshing IPS LCD screen with an FHD+ resolution comes standard with the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite. Potential buyers would be attracted to other companies' items that use OLED panels. These screens provide users with much better viewing angles, and greater contrast ratios, as well as exhibit brilliant colors. The LCD implementation on the Nord CE 2 Lite is pretty good, and the display is bright enough for outdoor use.

OnePlus also provides many display customization options, including the ability to switch between several color profiles, a temperature slider, and an eye-comfort mode. The panel is WideVine L1 certified for HD content on OTT services as well, although it is unable to deliver HDR content from Netflix or other apps. The phone's punch-hole notch makes problems worse because it exhibits backlight leakage, which could be annoying while watching films on the device. The smartphone keeps the experience of browsing as fluid as possible and its screen works pretty well around 120Hz.

One plus Nord CE2 lite has 64 mega-pixel primary sensors, a macro sensor, and a depth sensor for photography. The phone's photography performance impressed me considering its price range. However, the need for a dedicated ultra-wide sensor degrades the phone's reputation with aspiring photographers. However, images taken with the main camera give detail of an image.

The colors composition seems a little over-saturated, but most mid-range smartphones, have this problem. No focusing troubles with the gadget, and the shutter speed of the sensor seems appropriate. The standard UHD 64MP setting is present for taking higher-resolution pictures. Photos taken in portrait mode typically turn out nicely, with a clear focus on the subject of the picture and a strong backdrop separation.

The device does not produce the best low-light photographs and has a problem to over sharpen the objects in the frame. A rather hazy glimpse of the scenario can also be seen in the viewfinder. Additionally, the dedicated Night setting intensifies the color saturation to an extremely unappealing level. You can be sure that the Nord CE 2 Lite's low-light camera performance might need some improvement.

Like all other 2MP cameras, the macro sensor finds it difficult to extract as much information from a photograph as the primary sensor does. Nevertheless, you can use the device to take some artistic photographs that will appear fantastic on your Instagram account. When it comes to selfies, the smartphone produces good images with adequate details.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, which is also available in a number of other mid-range phones, powers the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite. This phone is not suitable for hardcore gamers. Therefore, you should not expect much while running programs like BGMI at a higher frame rate on the set. The gadget is well-equipped to be capable of running many applications like Facebook, Instagram, as well as Snapchat simultaneously in the background, and the ordinary person won't have any issues with this smartphone.

While scrolling through hundreds of Chrome tabs or moving among any of the apps, you won't experience any lag. The benchmark results are respectable enough, with Antutu V9.3 scoring 402,165 overall and CPU Throttle displaying an all-time high performance of up to 88 percent. In terms of BGMI, the phone runs Smooth graphics at an ultimate frame rate of Ultra (45fps). The Nord CE 2 Lite offers choices for up to 8GB LPDDR4X 128GB UFS 2.1 RAM and storage, respectively. It also has a microSD card slot that you can expand up to 1TB.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite is also 5G enabled. You will have to settle for 4G LTE phone services as of right now because India's telecom infrastructure does not support 5G services. To that end, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite and Jio SIM function perfectly, and the phone's download and upload rates are great.

For its operating system, OnePlus' OxygenOS 12 runs on Android 12. Since the business merged with OPPO earlier this year, some features from ColorOS have been included in the user interface. However, the application is extremely user-friendly and the UI is generally free of junk.

The Nord CE 2 Lite has a standard 5,000mAh battery that can be charged at 33W on the battery front. It takes approx 90 minutes to be charged fully.

Conclusion

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite offers a number of fascinating features in the mid-range of smartphones. Despite this, there are certain flaws in the smartphone, including its mono speaker arrangement and LCD display, which will disappoint media enthusiasts.

Fortunately, the Nord CE 2 Lite uses a strong, 5G-ready processor, while not the fastest, excels at handling daily chores. Furthermore, the gadget features a unique skin that is fantastic and devoid of bloat, unlike other similar devices. Overall, the OnePlus Nord CE2 Lite is a perfect phone in this price range.
