Design and Build

In terms of design, the GT 2 and GT 2 Pro are almost identical. The GT 2 version is considered the master version, which was introduced after the Realme GT, whose yellow racing model was the most liked by users. The smartphone is claimed to be made of biopolymer, which has a paper-like texture; biopolymer is a new name in the phone's dictionary. The company invested a lot of time in forming something environment-friendly and pleasing. The pattern of the phone is good and easy to griping. There are three options with different colours, such as paperwhite, paper green, and a classic version in traditional black colour with the finish of plain glass. Realme GT 2 is bigger than its predecessor Realme GT, but there is not much difference.

In terms of design, the Realme GT 2 is suitable for those who prefer large displays. The GT 2 has been introduced with a plastic body frame at the rear and Corning Gorilla Glass at the front. Realme claims that GT 2 is the creation that supports the environment and can be considered environment friendly; the company had followed the theme of environment conservation. They tried to distinguish themselves from the other crowd and highlight the company with such initiatives.

Realme GT 2 Review

In terms of weight, GT 2 is heavier than the other models, containing around 194 grams, which may not be a better option for the ones who like lighter phones. There are separate volume buttons on the left and a power button on the left side. At the frame's bottom is a Hybrid dual SIM support, USB-C port, and speakers. GT-2 has an AMOLED display of 6.62 inches with a full HD screen and a 2400 to 1080 pixels resolution. Also, vibrant colours are available due to the AMOLED display. Sound quality is excellent, and there are dual stereo speakers at the bottom and top of the frame, making for a loud sound experience when gaming or watching media. The in-display fingerprint sensor is provided, which is very much responsive. Users can easily unlock the phone by applying the thumb to the sensor. All these features are similar to Realme GT.

Memory and Storage

Realme GT 2 base variant comes with 128GB storage support, which provides good storage availability for storing huge amounts of data like documents, photos, videos, music, etc. But, there is no SD card slot which restricts internal storage capacity. Hence, those seeking more storage should go for the higher storage variant of the Realme GT 2, that is, 256GB storage. In terms of RAM, one can choose between 8GB or 12GB RAM variants.

Connectivity and Ports

In terms of connectivity, there is Bluetooth connectivity, WiFi connectivity, 5G, 4G with VoLTE dual standby, and a GPS connection for tracing location. The phone has USB type-C port for charging, but it lacks a 3.5 mm earphone jack. Users have to connect their earphones via Bluetooth or USB Type-C port using the Type-C to 3.5mm jack adopter.

Software and Performance

Realme GT 2 is powered by the high-end Snapdragon CPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Processor. It is quite capable of handling almost everything. The Realme GT 2 device uses Android 12-based Realme UI 3.0, which brings some unique features compared to the previous model. Most of the features of GT2 Pro are available in GT 2 as well. The Realme UI is highly customizable and consists of various other interesting elements. Most of the features are advanced from its GT series phones, such as more advanced privacy features, translated from Google Realme UI 2.0.

Realme GT 2 Review

Despite privacy features, Android 12 provides the ecosystem for installing typical Android applications with ease. One can simply install the desired applications from the Google Play Store. Notably, a dark mode feature is added, which is not very new, but here, it is presented with some colour themes like dark grey and a bit lighter grey instead of black.

Realme UI 3.0 has many new interesting features and a catchy look. In the case of performance, GT 2 is a very good phone, and it can manage heavy workloads with ease, preventing the phone from being heated on overuse because of the excellent cooling system. The processor, memory, storage, and other components of the phone are up to the line; all elements connected to the phone's performance are of good quality and appreciated a lot. Hence, the users have positive reviews for the performance of the phone.

Camera

Sporting impressive looks, the Realme GT 2 has a triple camera setup that includes a primary 50MP camera, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP micro camera. There are no special changes in the camera setup arrangement. The rear camera performance is quite satisfactory, with a wide variety of dedicated modes and features. There is also an LED flashlight attached near the camera module to capture good pictures in low-light scenarios.

There is no change even for the Selfie camera; it is the same as in Realme GT. Realme GT 2 is housed with a 16MP front-facing selfie camera, which allows users to take decent pictures in proper lighting. However, the performance gets degraded in low-light conditions.

Both the cameras are of good quality if the pictures are taken in good light. Notably, the rear camera also has OIS support, which enables stable video recording. However, according to the price, the customers expected more from the camera. The colour combination of the camera is medium, not that bad, but it does not fit the expectations. Users are disappointed with ultra-wide cameras mainly because of the low quality. Also, considering the high price of the phone, the front camera could have been upgraded to at least 32MP.

According to the price, there should be more quality in the camera. Let's say the phone is compared with devices from other companies like Oneplus 9RT and Galaxy A53 5G. In that case, there is a lot of difference in the saturation level when the photo is captured in Daylight Auto mode by the other two phones. Although there are many features in the camera of Realme GT 2, it may be confusing for the users.

Battery

The phone packs a massive 5000mAh battery and comes with a 65W quick charger to charge the phone quickly when needed. It is claimed that the phone can be fully charged within half an hour, which is a very good charging speed. Although the fast charging capability of the phone is a key feature, the battery performance is also decent. This phone can easily be used for more than a day with normal usage.

Verdict

On major review sites, the phone got an average score of 4.6 out of 5, which is a good score. This phone is in the limelight due to its unique design, great performance, good price, excellent camera setup and great display. This phone is liked by users the most due to its great design and structure. The camera layout of the phone is exactly similar to GT and GT 2 Pro. In the camera's case, colours are a bit saturated, and there's no distinguishing feature from its predecessor. Although OIS is provided, the camera lacks stability quality at some points. Beyond that, the 8MP ultra-wide is okay, just not that great. Apart from the camera, the absence of the memory expansion card slot and 3.5mm audio jack is really disappointing.

However, there are some distinct benefits of buying the Realme GT 2. It has a powerful processor Snapdragon 888, and superfast charging support with 65W quick charge. The phone offers a 120Hz smooth AMOLED display, 1000Hz touching sampling rate, 1300nits super bright display, Android 12, NFC support, stereo speakers, OIS, and solid build quality. Hence, the pros outweigh the cons of the phone, which is why we highly recommend checking out the Realme GT 2.
