Review

The new phone is the new version of the OnePlus 9R. It looks very different from anything the Chinese smartphone maker has designed till now. On the one hand, it does look unique, and newcomers to the OnePlus brand might find it attractive, but on the other hand, existing OnePlus customers might be disappointed in some aspects. The 10R 5G has some interesting hardware that OnePlus has put together, which is the 150W Endurance Edition of the phone.

  • OnePlus 10R 5G Price In India

There are two OnePlus 10R 5G varieties, each with an 80W or 150W charging option. There are two variations of the 80W model: one costs Rs. 38,999 and has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the other costs Rs. 42,999 and has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Priced at Rs. 43,999, the 150W Endurance Edition device has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In addition, the 5,000mAh battery in the 80W model is larger than the 4,500mAh battery in the 150W charging variant.

  • OnePlus 10R 5G Design (150W)

Despite having a slightly smaller battery, the OnePlus 10R 5G (150W) has the same appearance and even weighs the same 186g as the standard model. Due to its polycarbonate frame and back panel, this is exceptionally lightweight for a mid-range premium smartphone.

Unlike several other smartphones in this market, the 10R 5G series lacks wireless charging. The OnePlus 10R 5G has a modern appearance because of its flat sides, straight lines, and sharp corners. It has a distinctive appearance and stands out from the rest of the company's products. The OnePlus 10R 5G (150W)'s rear panel has a matte finish, the same as the frame, but it also features a striped pattern on the left side. The camera module is a dust magnet and becomes very messy after a few minutes of functioning, and cleaning it up is pretty difficult. The rear panel and frame are good at repelling fingerprints.

The edges of the frame make the OnePlus 10R 5G less pleasant to handle, even if it has an attractive design and is well-built. Although it is light because of the usage of polycarbonate, it doesn't have a very luxurious feel. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display used in the 10R 5G is prone to fingerprints. The only design feature that a OnePlus fan could recognize is the OnePlus logo in the bottom right corner of the back panel; otherwise, the design of this device differs drastically from almost every feature of its previous versions.

  • OnePlus 10R 5G (150W) Performance and Battery Life

The software performance of the OnePlus 10R 5G (150W) iseffortless and faultless with regular use. The phone doesn't lag while multitasking and accessing applications. It has a 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It featured vibrantcolorsand was visible even in direct sunlight. HDR streaming isnot supported while watching movies on Netflix. The stereo speakers soundloud and balanced, and the regular content appearsperfectly fine.

OnePlus included a Battery Health Engine feature that is unique to the 150W model to ensure that the phone and its battery are kept in good condition when charging. According to OnePlus, the Battery Health Engine feature is intended to increase the battery's lifespan so that it can continue to keep the same level of charge over time.

Even with intensive gaming use, the OnePlus 10R 5G (150W) battery lasts nearly a day and a half. In the HD video loop test, the phone completes 18 hours and 9 minutes, which is impressive for a high-end smartphone.

  • OnePlus 10R 5G (150W) Cameras

The 50-megapixel IMX766 sensor from Sony, which has optical image stabilization (OIS), is the centerpiece of the OnePlus 10R 5G (150W) main camera. The sensor is the same as the one in the OnePlus 9RT, and it was also used in the ultra-wide-angle cameras of the OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9. The OnePlus 10R 5G's 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera has a low resolution. A 16-megapixel camera is used for taking selfies.

The camera interface follows the standard OnePlus design, with all of the essential features on the Left and a three-dot button that swings out to show more options.

Images taken with the selfie camera in Portrait mode featured an equivalent level of quality and good edge detection. Using the macro camera is complicated, and getting great photos can be challenging. In most cases, the results were ordinary.

In Auto mode and low light, the camera took slightly longer exposure photos as needed. Pictures taken with the primary camera turn out reasonably well. The nightscape mode utilizes longer exposures to produce brighter images with significantly greater detail and dynamic range; the exposure of brighter parts is modified. The ultra-wide-angle camera produced blurry, nearly unusable photos with odd color tones in low light. Selfies taken in low light were of average quality, while portrait mode generated highly blurry photographs.

Videos captured with the OnePlus 10R 5G (150W)'s main camera during the daytime have generally strong dynamic range but average quality. A lot of blurring turns the footage useless when the AI Highlight option is used in brighter spots. Videos captured at 60 frames per second appear slightly smoother, but stabilization is still missing. Selfie videos shot at 1080p 30 frames per second, i.e., at the highest resolution, appeared clear, but backgrounds were washed out when facing the light.

The video quality is excellent in low light with no blurriness; the stabilization issues are the same as the video taken in the daytime.

Conclusion

The OnePlus 10R 5G is a great smartphone. It features a lovely appearance, an incredible display, good performance, and an excellent rapid charging option. It also offers a clear 120Hz Fluid AMOLED display and sufficient processing power to run intensive games.

The absence of the Alert slider and the typical OnePlus hand-feel will seem unusual to OnePlus fans. Although the aesthetics of a device are mainly subjective, the phone's sharp edges made it uncomfortable to handle. In addition, it doesn't feel expensive enough for a smartphone costing Rs. 43,999. It does seem like OnePlus has made a lot of adjustments.

However, the cameras are unimpressive and a step down even from the model from the previous generation. The software from OnePlus still needs to be updated and clarified in terms of both appearance and functionality. The majority of the phone's problems are software-related, so although they may be resolved, you shouldn't use this as the basis for your purchasing choice.
