Introduction

Nokia is already one of the leading brands in telecommunication. Nokia Corporation was established in 1865. It builds its chain in telecommunication, infrastructure, and technology development. It is famous for the features that it provides. But, it couldn't compete with the latest rivals and got very little attention in terms of smartphones. However, the Nokia C22 is an entry-level phone that has attracted users with its pricing and features.

Nokia C22 Review

Nokia launched the ''Nokia C22" mobile phone at Rs. 7999 on February 25, 2023. It is a budget-friendly mobile that exceeds its reach to most people. It is mainly available in three colors, Sand, Purple, and Charcoal (also referred to as Midnight Black). It is lightweight, making it suitable for regular use.

Packaging: Unboxing the Nokia C22

Nokia C22 comes in a box with the Nokia logo on it. The box contains the product & safety information booklet. One would find the smartphone, 10W charger, SIM ejector tool, and a micro USB cable.

Design and Build

The Nokia C22's design is simple yet attractive. The plastic back of the mobile has a textured finish. A rectangular camera is found at the back, which has a two-step design. The fingerprint scanner is placed just below the camera but slightly in the middle. The branding of Nokia can be seen in the middle of the panel.

The volume rocker and power button are positioned on the right side of the frame. The SIM card slot has been provided on the left edge. A 3.5mm headphone jack is at the top, and a microphone and micro USB port is at the bottom. On the front, there is a toughened glass screen with a water drop notch at the top for the selfie camera placement.

Display

The display of the mobile is 6.5 inches large. As already mentioned, the selfie camera is given in the water drop style notch on the top. One can consume the vibrant content on its good display. The display shows bright images of the video played on the screen. One can always manage the brightness level of the screen according to their convenience.

The touch response of the Nokia C22 is quite good but different from what is expected. The only problem one might face is difficulty in switching between apps as the screen doesn't seem very responsive at such times. Overall, considering the price, we cannot complain much.

Camera

Nokia C22 has a dual camera setup on the rear side, consisting of a 13MP primary shooter and a 2MP macro lens. The phone also has an 8MP selfie camera. Both cameras perform well in terms of image quality. The 13MP camera captures good-quality images in natural light. The level of detail that the sensor captures is entirely satisfactory. However, the 2MP macro camera doesn't fulfill an individual's expectations as it doesn't capture detailed close-ups.

The camera's portrait mode takes good shots by focusing on the object. The 8MP selfie camera is friendly but needs to capture finer details of the subject.

Software & Performance

The Unisoc SC9863A octa-core processor is used to power up the Nokia C22 smartphone. If we talk about its performance, it's decent for regular day-to-day tasks. It works well if one watches a video and exchanges messages on WhatsApp. Even the browsing experience is good. The only problem it faces is that it takes more time to launch the apps. Switching between apps or opening multiple tabs also creates a problem at times.

Besides, Nokia C22 comes preinstalled with Android 13 Go Edition. Since the smartphone is based on Android 13 Go Edition OS, there is an improvement in the speed of the mobile phone to some extent. But, one would find many bloatware apps?the apps which are generally unnecessary for most people. Fortunately, these bloatware apps can be uninstalled.

Notably, the phone will not receive any further Android software upgrades. However, the company assured to provide quarterly security updates to the users for two years.

Connectivity & Ports

The mobile phone supports 4G LTE connectivity. It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, and Bluetooth 5.2. It uses a micro USB port for charging. The phone also has a 3.5mm jack, enabling users to connect their traditional wired headphones or speakers.

Battery

Nokia C22 consists of a massive 5050mAh battery that supports up to 10W wired charging. The battery of the phone last for a day or more, and if we minimize the usage, it can last for more than that. It is impressive as per the budget-friendly mobile. Battery usage directly depends on the tasks we perform on the phone. Overall, the battery performance is quite satisfactory.

Verdict

The Nokia C22 is a budget-friendly mobile phone. It provides the best features as per the price. The mobile phone has a larger display, good battery capacity, and decent day-to-day performance. It is perfect for entry-level users and everyday use. However, it fails to load the apps quickly and creates difficulty switching between them. The only drawback of mobile is the low pixel density, which might not provide a better visual experience, but what would one want at such a low price? Otherwise, it is one of the best mobile phones in the low-price segment.
