Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Review

Introduction

One of the significant markets for low-cost cell phones is India. The majority of Android users in the nation utilize entry-level and midrange devices. Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO, and other companies are leading this market, especially in the under Rs. 20,000 pricing range. However, with its value-for-money goods, Tecno has recently emerged as a strong competitor in India's and other countries' low-cost smartphone industry.

Tecno is introducing several distinctive models at a reasonable price. On September 15, 2022, the Tecno introduced Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian. This reasonably priced Android phone stands out from the competition because of its color-changing appearance and mid-range gaming processor.

Design and Build Quality

Tecno has introduced a color-changing design, the most distinctive feature available in the mid-range category. So let's start by discussing it. The smartphone's back is separated into several squares that may change color when exposed to light. On the white rear of the phone, there is a square-block blocked pattern, which in and of itself gives the design a distinctive feel. A similar approach was used with the Vivo. However, this time, it was done in a more intriguing way.

In sunlight, you can see the blocks becoming pink and purple. For the first time, a company has created a mid-range phone using Polychromatic Photoisomer technology. This helps the rear panel's color change when exposed to direct sunlight.

Here, the color shift was well-controlled in contrast to the Vivo model V25 Pro, where it was inconsistent. So, if this particular feature drew you to the Camon 19 Pro, you won't be disappointed. The back panel is matte and does not show fingerprints.

Let's discuss functionality and form factors now. The phone has smooth edges and a thin design. When you hold the phone in your hands, it feels luxurious. Due to its lightweight 200-gram body, you may carry it around without feeling any extra heaviness in your pockets.

There are volume rockers and a power button on the phone's right side. The buttons are easily accessible and haptic. Here, the fingerprint scanner is housed in the power button. It responds quickly and may be lightly tapped to unlock the smartphone.

Here, we also find a 3.5mm headphone jack. These days, having wired headphones available is an uncommon feature, but it is always beneficial. There is a speaker grill and a USB Type-C charging connector with a headphone jack. Overall usability is good because of the flat frame design, huge yet reasonable-sized screen, and slightly easier one-handed operation.

The Techno Camon 19 Pro has a dual SIM card slot. The smartphone has a 4G connection but lacks 5G, a necessary component. This is a significant drawback of the gadget, to be clear.

Display

The 6.8-inch FHD plus LTPS display on the Camon 19 Pro has a resolution of 1080x2460 pixels. These specifications match those of the pricing range's devices. The 120Hz higher refresh rate of the panel is what makes it intriguing. Nord CE 2 Lite and the Galaxy F23 currently have these specifications.

Here, we receive an automatic refresh rate option. By doing this, the display can change its refresh rate from 60 to 120 Hz depending on the material you view. But it's a little choppy here. There was a definite lag on the phone screen while going between online sites and the home page. In order to manage this issue, I opted to keep my default setting at 120Hz. Battery drain was there, but not to the point where it would impair productivity.

There are average brightness levels. One of the few issues we could detect with the screen was that. Although the visibility is decent indoors, it can be difficult to see content outside, especially in bright sunshine. The display's performance has been high quality when playing video games, watching videos, or streaming material via OTT services.

A single loudspeaker setup complements the display. It produces decent audio and is pretty loud. Additionally, considering the price, Tecno should have included a stereo speaker system.

Camera Performance

Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Review

Tecno is one of the companies that incorporates a premium camera system into even its mid-range products. Camon 19 Pro model, which features a triple back camera module, is an excellent illustration of this. The phone includes a 64MP main camera and a 50MP secondary lens. According to the spec list, it is a more powerful mid-range Android phone for less than Rs 20,000. And when it comes to camera performance, you won't be dissatisfied with the image quality.

When the photos are taken in locations with good lighting, the clarity levels aren't affected in any way. The primary camera's 64MP resolution allows it to capture fine details. Scene detections are enhanced, and overall image quality is increased as a result of the extra OIS and laser autofocus.

The combined use of three lenses provides excellent color accuracy for the photographs that are taken. When you try to take pictures of moving objects or with intricate backdrops, the quality doesn't suffer. The quick shutter speeds handle the latter.

Tecno created the Camon 19 Pro Mondrian with photographers in mind; enthusiasts will particularly appreciate the enormous 32MP selfie camera. The selfie camera produces stunning self-portraits with excellent levels of resolution and harmonious color creation.

Hardware, Software, and Battery Backup

The MediaTek Helio G96 processor serves as the heart and soul of the Camon 19 Pro Edition. This high-quality gaming device uses a typical 4G chipset with a CPU cluster. The 4G chipset is a weakness in this Edition, despite the device's overall good specs. Although we wouldn't say it was a completely bad decision, a 5G CPU would have given it a distinct advantage over the competition.

Due to the respectable processing rates, there are no lags or delays in program loading or usage. It is remarkable that the phone's performance barely suffers when several apps are running at once. With no lag or jitter in sight, HD settings for gaming are simple to use.

However, the modest warm-up difficulties become apparent when the phone is heavily used for gaming. The phone effortlessly handles multitasking because of its sole 8GB RAM capacity. However, the 128GB of inbuilt storage is more than enough for data, documents, movies, and images.

Installing an extra microSD card makes installing an extra microSD card might make sense if you're one of the people who routinely download hefty apps and games. The 512GB of extendable storage support should be enough to meet any storage needs.

This edition of Tecno has implemented the Android 12 operating system as the firmware. HiOS, which is specially adapted for Tecno phones, is the UI that comes pre-loaded on top. The smartphone comes with a ton of bloatware that clogs the user interface. However, Tecno has luckily made several UI improvements for a better overall user experience.

Last but not least, this edition has a 5,000 mAh battery a 5,000 mAh battery within this edition. A durable backup, high battery capacity, and mid-range hardware are perfect. The battery can provide backup for more than eight hours with a single charge the battery can provide backup for more than eight hours. However, the backup is significantly reduced if the utilization is heavy, such as while playing video games. With the 33W rapid charging, the battery recharge takes around an hour.

Pros Cons
  • Excellent fingerprint scanner
  • Unique back panel with color changes
  • Good Cameras
  • Inexpensive
  • Average cameras for low light
  • Bloatware that was preinstalled
  • 5G isn't available

Conclusion

This Tecno edition is a good alternative for customers with a budget of less than Rs. 20,000. This model is an excellent choice if you're comfortable with a non-5G phone with a distinctive design aesthetic, a potent camera arrangement, and a snappy display.

This is the smartphone you can easily flaunt in public while making the fewest possible performance tradeoffs. This phone deserves our praise for its out-of-the-box style and feature-rich camera module.
