OnePlus 10R 5G Review

Introduction

In India, the OnePlus 10R 5G arrived on April 28, 2022. OnePlus has unveiled its entire flagship series along with several devices. But this time, the company launched them independently. The first to arrive was the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G, followed by the OnePlus 10R 5G, and on August 3, 2022, the One Plus 10T 5G. It closely resembles a high-end midrange Smartphone.

Review

When it comes to design & overall appearance, the OnePlus 10R 5G is the model of the OnePlus Smartphone and it is not much liked by users. For me, the OnePlus 9R's camera bump was a major turn-off, but compared to the OnePlus 10R 5G, the disappointment has only deepened. It is unexplainable why OnePlus does not give its devices with the "R" brand a good design. The OnePlus 10R 5G does not have the same look as the OnePlus Nord 2 & OnePlus Nord 2T.

The back and front of the Smartphone are composed of Plastic. The phone creates little difference because of its dual texture at the back. The black version has the OnePlus logo at the bottom right, which is hardly visible. The volume buttons are on the left side of the Smartphone, while the power button is on the right. The edges are flat and somewhat thick.

The bottom of the device contains a USB Type-C port, a speaker grill on the right, and a SIM tray on the left. People appreciate that the borders are relatively small on sides, which might have given the device a rather ugly appearance. Its measurements are 16.33 cm in height, 7.55 cm in width, and 0.82 cm in thickness, weighing only 186 grams.

Display

With a 6.7-inch Fluid OLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz, the One Plus 10R 5G is quite a sizable device. Its top is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, and based on the content displayed on the screen, it can change refresh rates adaptively.

This Smartphone supports a respectable maximum brightness. Nothing is too small, yet nothing is either too enormous. People always say that One Plus offers customers a wonderful display interaction experience. The OxygenOS 12 is mainly responsible for OnePlus's ability to do this.

The transitions are seamless, there is no bloatware, and the touch is rapid thanks to its 360Hz touch response rate. On this Smartphone, watching videos would be a respectable experience. Additionally, the audio output is rather nice. The in-display fingerprint sensor was somewhat responsive when people tried to unlock the device.

Like the iPhone 12 & iPhone 13 series, this gadget has flat display corners and a boxy design that some people may find slightly unpleasant to handle for extended periods.

Performance and battery review

The performance of the One Plus 10R 5G is admirably strong. As was already noted, OxygenOS 12 significantly improves the quality of your experience with this Smartphone. The OS runs well and has been reasonably well-optimized. The device fell short in a particular area where people hoped it would perform well. People prefer to avoid the phone, which gets hot very quickly. However, it did once you start playing games or making high-resolution films, even for a short period.

With the OnePlus 10R 5G, multitasking is simple. It runs quite consistently, and if you have yet to completely close any open applications, it will open them swiftly and keep them working in the background.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX powers the One Plus 10R 5G, which also includes a maximum of 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and 256 GB of inbuilt UFS 3.1 storage. According to users, the battery is discharging at a typical rate. If you use it moderately, it can last for a day. The OnePlus 10R 5G is offered in two versions. One has a 5000mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging, while the other has a 4500mAh battery & supports 150W fast charging.

Camera

A 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor make up the triple camera arrangement on the back of the OnePlus 10R 5G. At the backside of the Smartphone, there is an LED flash. The gadget consists of a 16MP front camera for taking selfies. The back camera on the OnePlus 10R 5G is capable of recording both images and videos in a variety of settings, including Nightscape 2.0, Super Macro, UltraShot HDR, Smart Scene Recognition, Portrait Mode, Pro Mode, Video Nightscape, Video HDR, Video Portrait Time-lapse, & others.

If you've recently used an Oppo and OnePlus Smartphone, you already know what to expect from the camera software. The camera app is also incredibly simple to use. The photos from the camera were not too bad. Given that the photos were still quite consistent and high-quality, the absence of Hasselblad cameras didn't make much of a difference.

Conclusion

Overall, this product offers a decent value. The design is not much appreciated by people. But that can undoubtedly be a matter of opinion. A plastic body doesn't feel nice at this pricing point, and OnePlus should be aware of this. It is not intended to be a cost-effective entry-level Smartphone; instead, it is a premium OnePlus mid-range handset.

You can depend on the device to complete the task because it works consistently. The display, battery, and camera are all acceptable.
