Nokia C12 Android 12 Review

The Nokia C12 Android 12 is available in three standard colors: Light Mint, Dark Cyan, and Charcoal. It has a simple design and is made up of plastic. However, the finishing it has got looks like a metallic body. It will not give users the feel of higher-end devices but will give them a good grip.

Packaging: Unboxing the Nokia C12 Android 12

The mobile phone comes in a white box with the Nokia logo and a picture of the mobile phone. Additionally, the major features are also written on the box. Inside it, a Nokia C12 handset, a Micro USB charging cable, a 10 W power adapter, and an information booklet are provided.

Design and Build

If we talk about the design of the Nokia C12, then it's simple and appealing. It is modeled in the C series and sports a plastic back with a single camera setup. It houses an 8MP camera with LED flash; both are placed on the top left side of the rear panel. One would find the speaker at the bottom of the left corner of the panel. The speaker has higher frequencies, but the bass is lost in the background. The Nokia logo can be seen in the center of the back panel. On the front, it sports a top water-drop notch-styled screen, and this is where the front camera is located. The smartphone weighs 177 grams and has dimensions of 160.6mm x 74.3mm x 8.8m.

The volume rocker and the power button have been provided on the left side of the frame. At the bottom, it has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB charging slot. For the SIM card slot, Nokia C12 offers removable plastic back. One can insert the SIM and memory card by removing the back of the phone. The battery unit is also removable and can be replaced, allowing a person to benefit from purchasing a new battery instead of spending the cost of repairing it.

Display

The smartphone has 6.3 inches HD+ IPS LCD display screen with a 5 MP Selfie camera placed at the top-center of the display. The features of the display are also good. One can watch HD content on screen. The image quality is decent, with rich colors and a good contrast level. The touch response is average, but one may find it annoying as it fails to register typing sometimes. But overall, it is fine as per the price.

The favorable thing about this smartphone is its scratch-resistant glass panel which prevents it from scratch.

Software & Performance

Nokia C12's performance is quite good with the Android 12 Go Edition operating system. The Unisoc 9863A1 octa-core processor is used to power up the device. It has 2GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Additionally, users can expand their RAM up to 4GB using Virtual RAM from Settings. Daily tasks like calling, texting, and watching videos can be done comfortably. Multitasking can work at an average speed. But, the navigation speed automatically slows down when we play music in the background. The same thing happens when multiple tabs are opened. The smartphone warms up by this.

If we talk about gaming, we can say that it is not made for gaming needs. It can handle basic games like Candy Crush and Subway Surfers but struggle with heavy games like Garena Free Fire Max and BGMI. The touch response also gets affected while playing the games. The OS experience of the smartphone is clean, but still, the lightweight Go Edition consists of bloatware. It has pre-installed apps, which, however, can be uninstalled. The basic customization options are available for wallpaper and app drawer.

Camera

The smartphone consists of 8MP primary camera at the rear and a 5MP camera at the front. The camera has Night Mode and Portrait Mode for low-light photography and Bukeh shots. However, these modes are not so effective. It also contains a Time-lapse for recording slower-speed video. The images taken from the camera produce good colors. The Nokia C12 captures decent details of the images. It's hard to see small details as images are sometimes blurry, even in broad daylight.

The Night Mode lights up the images, and Portrait Mode produces rich colors by increasing the focus on the object. The selfie camera captures decent images by providing color optimization. The smartphone doesn't indulge with natural colors while processing the images, which is a plus point of this smartphone.

Battery

The Nokia C12 consists of a 3000mAh battery. It can stay up to two days if not used continuously (or when put on standby mode). The battery can last an entire day with 20-30% in the bank on typical usage like HD video content, light gaming, and playing music. The only drawback is the Micro USB charger which charges the phone slowly.

Verdict

In a nutshell, The Nokia C12 is a decent mobile phone compensating for the amount spent on it. It offers a good screen with average performance. The camera is decent as well. It is a low-cost phone, so it is not fair to expect much at this price. But, if one wants better, there are many other options. Overall, it is a nice phone with average features and performance. People with a low budget can go for this smartphone.
