Redmi Y3 Review

So yet, sales of Xiaomi's selfie-focused Y series phones have not been very strong. The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 is unique, though.

For seven straight quarters, Xiaomi has been India's top-selling smartphone brand. And the high calibre of its popular phones is a major factor in its success. Does this imply that the less-priced Redmi Y3 can take selfies that are just as excellent as those taken by more expensive 32-megapixel smartphones? Let's investigate.

Y3 Redmi Camera

However, the selfies seemed a little bit washed out in the scorching heat. The front flashlight made it easier to take well-lit, distinct, and detailed selfies in dim lighting.

Overall, we didn't see a significant aesthetic difference between selfies taken in PRO mode and normal mode. Both modes have almost similar results. The 32MP mode, from our perspective, just captured the facial lines and eyelashes a little bit better than the normal mode. In other words, a selfie taken in 32MP mode will provide better quality if you plan to print the image.

The standard mode is sufficient for Facebook and WhatsApp use. The Redmi Y3 also has a number of selfie camera modes, including 32MP mode, group selfie, palm shutter, and beauty. Users can alter the photographs using these modes. The Redmi Y3 is a decent phone for those who enjoy the beauty mode. we should note, however, that this mode on the Redmi Y3 doesn't make the face appear unnatural, which is fantastic compared to the selfie mode in many other selfie-focused phones.

The Redmi Y3 has a 12-megapixel plus 2-megapixel camera module on the back, the same as the Redmi Note 7. In short, the Redmi Y3 takes photographs that turn out to be quite respectable, with nice colours and a considerable amount of detail in good lighting.

Redmi Y3 Design and Display

The Redmi Y3's main selling point, besides the selfie camera, is its appearance. The Redmi Y3's overall design has us really pleased. The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 has an Aura Prism design, which is somewhat reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy A50 and provides the phone with a rainbow look in addition to a gradient finish. Despite having a polycarbonate shell, the Redmi Y3 looks fantastic at Rs 9,999. However, a lot of fingerprints are visible due to their shiny appearance.

The Redmi Y3's overall look is substantially enhanced by the Aura Prism coating. The Redmi Y3 is available in black, strong red, and beautiful blue, and all three colours, in our view, look fantastic on the phone. The Redmi Y3's bezels have been reduced compared to the Redmi Y2, which has incredibly thick bezels on all four sides, and Xiaomi has included the newest dot drop notch.

The Redmi Y3's build quality is also excellent, however, the weight of the phone in your hands may be related to its internal 4000mAh battery. In addition to being overweight, the Redmi Y3's display is another drawback.

We experienced the same issue with the Redmi Note 7 series and the Redmi 7 as well. A large HD+ display of 6.26 inches with a 19:9 aspect ratio is included with the Redmi Y3. The screen is rather bright when used inside; we find that maintaining the intensity at 40% works well. But regrettably, that's not always the case outside. Even the maximum brightness setting of 100% is occasionally insufficient to view the screen well in the scorching sun.

Redmi Y3's Battery Life and Performance

The Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 are comparable in terms of their basic hardware and batteries. The Redmi Y3 has an expandable storage slot and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 engine, along with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Redmi Y3 will suit your needs if you just use phones for basic functions, including browsing social media, taking photographs, making calls, and chatting. However, there are better choices offered at this cost such as the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 or Redmi Note 7 if you're a power user, often multitask on your phone, or play a lot of games. The Redmi Y3 exhibits struggles and minor sluggishness while launching applications and moving between two apps in regular use, especially when there are too many apps running in the background.

Is It Worth It to Buy Redmi Y3 at Rs 9,999?

The Redmi Y3 is an excellent smartphone with a selfie camera, so consider that. In addition to having a great rear camera, the Redmi Y3 has a stylish design and long-lasting batteries. The Redmi Note 7 (which has much superior specifications and performance) is available for the same price of Rs 9,999, therefore we think Xiaomi should have offered the phone a little bit cheaper.
