Redmi 7 Review

Introduction

With the new Redmi 7, Xiaomi has revamped its affordable workhorse Redmi series. The Redmi 7 sports a more potent processor, a larger screen, and a redesigned plastic body with selectable gradient designs that correspond with current trends than the Redmi Six, released less than a year ago.

This phone meets or exceeds all the features and characteristics other manufacturers are currently luring customers with. The base model's price is highly appealing, but we need to see the benefit of the more expensive model, which only offers an additional 1GB of RAM.

Through its Redmi & Redmi Note line of smartphones, Xiaomi has introduced a sizable number of devices in the low-priced market. According to the specs, the gadget has a pair of rear cameras module and a Snapdragon 632 processor. Gradient design and a 4000mAh battery. Design Technology

A sizable 6.26-inch HD+ display featuring a pixel resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and an average pixel density of roughly 269 PPI is featured on the Redmi 7. An earpiece on the upper edge above the display exists, identical to the Redmi Note seven series. The typical set of vicinity and lighting sensors are there and hardly noticeable on the bezel on the opposite side of the earpiece. Additionally, a front-facing 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture is present.

In the default build, there was no way to hide the notch; however, with the MIUI International Stable 10.3.2.0 upgrade, it is now possible. You can alter the contrast and colors under the display settings depending on your preferences. To prevent eye strain when using your device at night, MIUI now has a studying mode that allows you to lower the blue light output.

Performance

The performance is handled by the Snapdragon 632. This SoC falls into the lower mid-range price band and is also in the Motorola Moto G7 Play. Our test unit is at the top of every benchmark we performed thanks to this processor, enabling it to achieve excellent execution levels for this price range.

The substantial 3 GB of Memory also contributes, allowing the user to maximize the processor's performance. This combination makes it possible to quickly switch between programs and scroll through menus with ease and fluidity. Though the CPU might struggle with complying with complex calculations, it is more than adequate for daily use.

Software

Software-wise, the Xiaomi Redmi 7 is powered by Android 9.0 Pie, the most recent version of the Android operating system, and is wrapped in the brand's unique MIUI 9 user interface. Xiaomi's custom skin succeeds in providing a respectable experience with a wealth of practical functions already included. As expected, the UI is covered in a tonne of bloatware. Fortunately, most are simple to remove; the rest will be your responsibility.

Cameras

The Redmi 7 has a dual-camera configuration with the main 12MP sensor and a secondary 2MP deep sensor at the back for imaging. There is only one 8MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture, which is used for selfies. The Redmi 7's cameras function similarly to any other sub-$10,000 low-cost smartphone.

The clicked pictures come out reasonably well in daylight, with a reasonable amount of clarity and reasonably excellent colors. You can turn on the HDR option in the camera app to increase the dynamic range. The smartphone has Automatic HDR, portrait, slow-mo, Professional mode, and time-lapse, to name a few functions.

Additionally, it features an AI mode that, as usual, detects settings by examining the environment. With acceptable edge recognition and good bokeh, portrait mode performs fairly well.

The device suffers a lot in low light, as one could expect. Pictures with a lot of grains provide details that are dramatically reduced. A budget device's low-light picture quality has never been its strongest point. Selfies come out very well when the face is relatively smooth and saturated. In other words, this device's selfies are acceptable enough to post on social media.

Battery Life

Unquestionably, the Redmi Note 7's batteries are one of its standout characteristics. The very high battery rating was anticipated, given that it has a 4,000 mAh capacity and is combined with the reasonably efficient Snapdragon 660 SoC.

The rating was raised to 108h by the 3G talk duration and standby tests, while the web surfing and watching videos runtimes are adequate but by no means outstanding. In terms of endurance, it easily surpasses certain high-end and upper-midrange smartphones.

The device contains a single bottom-mounted speaker for audio that produces passable sound. I didn't hear any distortion, even at maximum volume. A 3.5-mm jack for headphones is there and provides top-notch output as well.

Regarding calling, we had virtually no problems with the earpiece, microphone, or call quality. I want to draw attention to the fact that, for a variety of reasons, the output of audio from the earphone felt a little low.

The back of your cellphone has a fingerprint sensor that rapidly opens it. The reader is remarkably quick, precise, and dependable. There is a Face Unlock option, which takes a little longer than a second. It could be more dependable because it only uses a 2D approximation of your face. Surprisingly, Face Unlock performed reasonably well in low light.

All of the common connection capabilities, including single-band wireless internet, Bluetooth 4.2 technology featuring aptX HD, GPS, an IR blaster, and FM Radio, including a micro-USB port for charging, are included on the Redmi 7.

Audio Quality

The Redmi Note 7 scored exceptionally well and had an astonishingly loud sound with a functioning external amplifier, making it a terrific driver for your house stereo or automotive audio.

When headphones were used, the volume remained equally amazing and was among the highest on the market, certainly for the price range.
