18 pages review

Introduction

The movie '18 Pages' is an Indian Telugu-language romantic movie that has thriller elements. It is written by Sukumar and directed by Palnati Surya Pratap. It is produced by production companies like GA2 Pictures and Sukumar Writings and the star cast of the movie includes Nikhil Siddhartha, Anupama Parameswaran, Ajay, Brahmaji, and others. The film has received mixed reviews from the audience as well as the critics so far. It is available on Netflix.

Synopsis

Although it manages to keep you interested, this film by Nikhil Siddhartha and Anupama Parameswaran never manages to improve the subject matter. The actors Allu Aravind, Sukumar, and Bunny Vaas, as well as the popular duo Nikhil and Anupama, are enough to generate interest in '18 Pages'. Two songs have also gained popularity. The movie has so received excellent pre-release hype.

Story

A software business employs Siddhu (Nikhil Siddhartha) as an app developer. He finds a journal from 2019 that was written by a girl called Nandini (Anupama Parameswaran). Siddhu learns through her diary entries that she values face-to-face connection above Internet communication. She left her Andhra village and traveled to Hyderabad to provide Venkatrao, a friend of her grandfather's, with a cover.

Siddhu visits her village to see her after reading the journal and developing feelings for her. Siddhu is told by Nandini's family that she died in a car accident a few months ago. The news shocks him, and he goes back to Hyderabad.

Performances by the Artists

The role of a young man who falls in affection for a woman he hasn't seen or met is well portrayed by Nikhil Siddharth. However, he doesn't appear the same everywhere; there are a few glaring places where he appears out of form. The woman portraying the lead, Anupama Parameswaran, is outstanding. Nikhil's pal Sarayu provides a few amusing lines. Posani and Ajay's brief appearances are acceptable in the movie. So far, the actors do a decent job to carry the acting part of the movie well enough.

Review

18 pages review

Sukumar's narrative appears in Palnati Surya Pratap's '18 Pages', which is a charming, humorous love story that, for the most part, keeps you fascinated. A tale like this should only be able to keep you interested for a portion of it, which the movie succeeds in doing.

An app developer named Siddhu (Nikhil Siddhartha) has recently learned devastating news about his lover. After going on an unintentionally amusing bender, he discovers Nandini's (Anupama Parameswaran) journal. When he goes on a rebound, he discovers that the 18 pages she has written are drowning him instead of drinking or another woman's embrace. She, in his opinion, offers the kindhearted remedy to his recent melancholy. But as he searches for her, a mystery starts to come into focus.

The story of a guy who falls in love with words penned two years ago and a lady he has never even met takes shape very sweetly in the movie, '18 Pages'. Because of the background, the movie works best when it focuses on Siddhu's yearning. Although it isn't flawless, Siddhu and his loyal companion Baghi (Sarayu Roy) are present in these scenario's to carry it forward.

They only give a lot of foolishness and some humor; they don't offer anything novel. Palnati does a nice job of quietly conveying how Siddhu and Nandini were meant to meet without hammering it home with histrionic speech. He also uses subtlety to highlight the differences between Siddhu and Nandini as individuals. It's okay to include a track regarding Siddhu's relatives.

When it comes to Nandini and her past, the movie falls flat since it is neither very interesting nor original. She merely has a hint of the nostalgic appeal of an old-school Tollywood heroine in the manner she is written. It seems as though Sukumar also discovered this tale in a stale journal. Anupama is charming, but there must be something in these pages that draws the hero in before he ever meets her, beyond her charity and straightforward demeanor. The movie eventually succeeds because of the mystery around her rather than their interaction.

The picture benefits greatly from Gopi Sundar's score and A Vasanth's photography. However, there are significant sound difficulties with the dubbing in several important moments of the movie (at the cinema where this reviewer attended the movie) that detract from the overall experience. While some of the movie's elements are overtly sexual, others may come off as too sugary.

It also appears that the whole "let's talk to each other instead of looking at our phones" discussion is over. The problem is that the movie never elevates the content, which reads interesting on paper but not so much on screen. Despite its weaknesses, Palnati also succeeds in making you want to see the entire movie because you want to find out if these two individuals succeed.

Anupama as Nandini and Nikhil as Siddhu both perform admirably. Particularly at the conclusion, these two give their characters some finesse. The remainder of the ensemble, which includes actors Posani Krishna Murali, Ajay, and Sarayu, does well with what is given to them. If someone is smitten with the concept of love, a movie like '18 Pages' should be on their watchlist. Just that they should be mindful of their expectations.

Conclusion

'18 Pages' is a charming, humorous love story featuring Nikhil Siddhartha and Anupama Parameswaran. The film follows Siddhu, an app developer, who discovers Nandini's journal from 2019 and falls in love with her. The lead actress, Anupama Parameswaran, delivers outstanding performances. The movie works best when focusing on Siddhu's yearning and subtlety in conveying their connection. However, the story lacks originality and interest in Nandini's past. Anupama's performance as Nandini and Nikhil's portrayal of Siddhu is admirable. Overall, '18 Pages' is a delightful film that captures the essence of love and the importance of understanding the complexities of love.
