Prithviraj Movie Review

Samrat Prithviraj Story

The movie, which is based on Prithviraj Raso, tells the tale of King Prithviraj Chauhan, who sacrificed everything during his battle with Muhammad Ghori to defend his honour and homeland against invasion and captivity by foreigners.

Samrat Prithviraj Review

Setting the tone of a tale right away is the greatest way to tell it in an interesting way. And what better way to highlight a tale about a valiant warrior king, Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan (Akshay Kumar), and his struggle to keep his honour, his subjects, and his land from falling into the hands of Muhammad Ghori (Manav Vij), than with a dramatic action scene. After that, the story delves into the king's development as a person and what ultimately motivated him to fight Ghori on the battlefield.

Prithviraj Movie Review

The film's action sequences are well-choreographed and photographed, but given that the drama is about a battle that had an influence on our history, you may have anticipated more scenes set during that conflict. While the dialogues add drama to the story, they can also be a little inconsistent at times. Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is also the film's writer and director, does a good job of keeping the storyline clear and concise and free of unnecessary asides.

Post-interval, the woman-power sub-plot loses some of its focus more than it should have. It temporarily detracts from the film's main plot. Additionally, none of the characters have been assigned a specific leheza or accent to talk in, which is both advantageous and disadvantageous. Good because the general public can follow it more easily; poor because it doesn't sound as real as it might.

Samrat Prithviraj, despite its scale of canvas, doesn't become overly opulent - something we are accustomed to watching in our films from the same genre over the years. Together, the costumes and production design support that. Despite the topic's complexity and layers, it has been mostly simplified for the audience's comprehension and engagement.

None of the Shankar Ehsaan Loy-penned songs on the album truly stick with you. A few times in the movie, the title track plays out, and it can be a little surprising. If the honeymoon song and the final song and dance sequences had been cut, there likely would have been more time and room for the war, action, and dramatic scenes. There are a number of striking scenes visually, but the VFX could have been applied more expertly.

In terms of performance, Akshay Kumar's effort to dive deep into this historic character is visible. He carries the enormous responsibility of a king with grace and dignity. Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt, who play Chand Vardai and Kaka Kanha, respectively, give the story a lot of weight as the drama goes on. In fact, Sanjay sometimes breaks up the serious tone of the movie with laughter. The figure who stands out as having the greatest "thehrav" and maturity is Sonu, who serves the monarch as his loyal subject.

The 2017 Miss World winner Manushi Chhillar makes a solid and outstanding debut in this film. In a film about a warrior king and the intricacies of that era's combat, she holds her own and offers a performance that presents her as a whole person.

On the other hand, well-known actors like Manoj Joshi, Ashutosh Rana, and Sakshi Tanwar have played incredibly small roles with little to no screen time. If there had been a chance to witness a bit more drama starring these performers in addition to the story's main protagonists, it would have greatly aided the storyline.

Samrat Prithviraj is an excellently acted and well-made family drama overall. Although it lacks the opulence of other historical dramas, there is still enough to keep you interested and transport you back to our glorious past.
