Vivah Review

Indian films are well-known for their family-oriented themes, but the Rajshri productions stand out uniquely. Unlike many other family movies that tend to promote family values forcefully, Rajshri's films portray these values naturally without imposing them on the viewers.

Such movies represent a setting that may not apply to every family, but it is enjoyable to imagine belonging to one. Even though some individuals may not value family, they are depicted as different from the family in question rather than representative of society. It's best to let this happy family go about their business, but it's up to individuals to decide whether or not to follow their example.

This movie is intriguing because it lacks most films' typical fighting and conflict. Instead, it focuses on developing the relationship between Amrita Rao and Shahid Kapoor, who come from different backgrounds. Amrita, an orphan, is raised by her uncle Alok Nath, while Shahid is a wealthy city lad living in a spacious palace with a large family. Despite their differences, Amrita and Shahid get along well and become engaged.

The film raises the question of what commitment is involved in an engagement, particularly a planned one that is not legally or religiously binding. The movie asserts that relationships take effort and that strong relationships are essential. When tragedy strikes, the couple's deep relationship is evident as Shahid stays by Amrita's side throughout her rehabilitation and brings her home when she is well. However, the film has its challenges. It significantly emphasizes Amrita's physical beauty and skin tone, which is not a healthy message.

Additionally, the family patriarch is eager to wed his niece into the wealthy family, and his wife's valid concerns are dismissed. The film also portrays the societal expectation that a woman's value lies in marriage and family, which is problematic. Despite its flaws, the film is enjoyable and portrays the importance of relationships and commitment. It emphasizes the importance of caring for one's partner's body and emotional well-being rather than just utilizing it. Overall, it is a heartwarming story of love and dedication.
