Varalaru Mukkiyam Review

The last screenplay of the movie was shot in Kerala after considerable shooting took place throughout Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, and Telangana. On December 9, 2022, the movie opened in cinemas. However, the movie was a box office flop after receiving generally unfavorable reviews from reviewers.

Production

Jiiva37 was the film's initial proposed title. However, Varalaru Mukkiyam became the official title of the movie on January 4, 2022. The post-production of the film was completed on 4 January 2022 and was going on in full swing. However, it did not meet the expectations of the audience.

Plot

A wayward young man's life takes a turn when he starts stalking the daughters of the new family in his neighborhood.

Adaikalam, a friend of Karthik's, wants to be a politician, whereas Karthik wants to be well-known. Karthik has feelings for his new neighbor, but the sister of his love interest develops feelings for him.

Movie Summary

Jiiva (an actor), officially Amar Choudary, is a talented comedian actor. He has frequently shown this quality in films like Nanban, Endrendrum Punnagai, and Siva Manasula Sakthi. But in recent years, we have observed that the films fell short of his promise. His most recent work, Varalaru Mukkiyam, is regrettably the same. In actuality, Jiiva's charm and humor are what saves the movie from becoming intolerable. Despite this, the movie was a complete flop.

Once more, Jiiva embodies the archetypal middle-class young person living with no worries in the movie Varalaru Mukkiyam. The person who often plays the role of his mother is named Saranya Ponvannan and is also seen in this film. In addition, KS Ravikumar plays the role of father, who frequently corrects his son for acting like a wastrel.

A Malayali family relocates to Jiiva's area, which is the focus of the main narrative. The constant assault of clichs lets you know that this is a Malayali household.

The head of the Malay family manages a bakery. No matter the location, a college, a temple, a train station, or their home, his daughters always dress in pattu pavadais chandana kuri. He simply wants a Dubai marumakan. Even the Malyali warriors wearing chandana kuri might be seen in battle scenes in this movie. They are expected to wear it always since, in the movie makers' eyes, they are Malayalis. It is not at least a compliment to say that Varalaru Mukkiyam is trapped in the Malabar Police era.

Varalaru Mukkiyam's writing is as cliched and out-of-date as it could get. Karthik, a character played by Jiiva, does possess some intriguing qualities. He is self-centered doesn't hesitate to put his loved ones in danger. Jiiva enjoys her time in these kinds of roles a lot. A character Siva from the movie Siva Manasula Sakthi: do you still remember? Despite the similarities between these two characters, Rajesh's movie included more genuine humor. The script was actually entertaining, and performers like Santhanam, Anuya Bhagwat, Urvashi delivered outstanding supporting performances. Unfortunately, Jiiva is solely responsible to involve the audience in the Varalaru Mukkiyam movie. Despite his best attempts, VTV Ganesh, the typical sidekick of the hero in the movie, falls short in comparison to Santhanam.

In this instance or movie, he (VTV Ganesh) is a sexually aroused politician. Every time an adult joke is spoken, a moaning sound may be heard in the background. Even a sequence emphasizing the importance of sex education is included. It's disappointing to watch producers use such flimsy gags to get people to chuckle.

Varalaru Mukkiyam is basically a rom-com that uses all the cliches of the genre. The two female stars, Kashmira Pardeshi Pragya Nagra, who portray as sisters, are both attractive, but the hero prefers the "prettier" of the two. He manages to win the girl over after persistent stalking, but he later fights with the person who is bothering his sister and stalking her. When a friend criticizes him for acting hypocritically, Karthik says, "Love pannanum da.. intha maathiri irritate panna koodadhu." I truly wish the movie's director understood the difference between "love" "irritation" because it is vital. The movie Varalaru Mukkiyam is a useless memory ofwhen dreadful, ridiculous films were promoted as cool comedies.

Review

It would have been a family film had it not had 18+ verses and harsh dialogues and other such mix-ups. Overall, despite its efforts, this is probably a two-and-a-half-hour-long sexist, childish, dull, and humorless disaster that also lacks narrative tension.
